A friend pointed this out, isn't Blair pushing her agenda a bit nutty?
I casn't verify the authenticity of this (not on Snopes yet), but if true, it's really funny.

Jim

Do you remember Blair from “The Facts of Life”? She sent out this mass email after the Stupid Bowl on Sunday. You must read it – she sounds a little crazy if you ask me. I saw it posted online this morning.

Dear friends,

I am deeply disturbed by what happened during last night's halftime

show of the Super bowl. I was downstairs cleaning up the kitchen

when the halftime show began and when I overheard the lyrics of the

songs I went upstairs to have the kids switch the channel. Too

late! When it was over I called my mother and said, "Did what I

think just happened, really happen?"

As a family, we immediately knelt down and repented on behalf of

America and pled for mercy on our country. We prayed the scripture

in 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If My people who are called by My name will

humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their

wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their

sin and heal their land."

At the end of the game we had a family discussion and talked about

how we could make our voice heard, that there were people in America

who were not willing to stand back and watch our country go the way

of cultures in the past who gave themselves over to the flesh and

were destroyed.

MTV produced the halftime show but AOL was the official sponsor. We

can't boycott MTV because we don't subscribe. But we can cancel our

AOL service – and we did! When I called AOL this morning to cancel

they asked me why I was punishing AOL instead of CBS or the NFL.

I explained that CBS would not know if our family never watched

another show on their network because we aren't a "Nielson" ratings

family. Same goes for the NFL. I don't hold within my hands any

influence to impact CBS, NFL or MTV. But AOL does!

If enough people cancel their AOL subscriptions, you can believe me,

AOL will go directly to CBS, NFL, MTV and any other acronym

involved, and their voice (and pocketbook) will be heard.

Living in America, we don't often have to suffer for

our beliefs. I believe canceling our AOL account is a small way

that we can take a stand for Christ and do our part in "turn(ing)

from our wicked ways." AOL may not hear, but God will and, perhaps,

He "will forgive (our) sins and heal (our) land."

Blessings,

Lisa Whelchel

I don't agree with her reasons, but I've been boycotting AOL since it's inception!

May not be a hoax, she's become super churchlady since the Facts of Life days. Ultra ultra super duper delux church. Makes Adex look like a sinner type of churchy.

But it's aimed at AOL. Who had nothing to do with the Super Bowl.

I'm no Snopes but I smell a hoax!

(I am a poet though)

AOL was a huge sponsor of the superbowl. I'm sure they had nothing to do with the production of the halftime show, but they still sponsored the shit out of it.

Dregor is right. I saw a snippet of the E! True Hollywood story about the Facts of Life cast, and she had definitely joined the God Squad.

Obviously a Hoax as AoL = The Devil

And someone smack her in the back of the head with a fricking bible..that is just silly sick that people act like that. Oh, and would a mega church pounding bible banger really have the Superbowl on in the first place? Should be the 700 club or some shit with Musac playing in the background on their electrola.

I blame AOL for the upcoming downfall of the Braves. I hope each and every member of the board that was responsible for crippling the team gets a flesh eating disease.

yeah, im pretty hopeful that we can get the Braves sold as a fan. As somebody who gets some free Braves tickets, i love that perk, but i'd rather pay for them and feel better about the team.

that being said, if the team was dissociated financially from TBS, i'm not sure the revenues would be the same, and an $85 million payroll might be the most they could do anyway. Anyway, glad they didnt resign Maddux even though i really like the guy.

I'm not saying she isn't a bible thumping freak.

I'm just saying I doubt she wrote it.

But I wont be crushed if it turns out she did.

The Phillies will own you this year!

The plot thickens!
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The controversial Super Bowl halftime show, in which Janet Jackson (news) bared a breast to the chagrin of the NFL, CBS and show producer MTV, has touched the world's largest Internet service.

America Online has canceled plans to stream on-demand the halftime show that it reportedly paid $7.5 million to sponsor. The Time Warner-owned firm is reportedly seeking a refund for all or some of that money. Although AOL issued a statement distancing itself from what some government officials are calling a crass halftime performance, a representative declined comment on TW's desire for compensation from Viacom.

"While AOL was the sponsor of the Super Bowl halftime show, we did not produce it," the company said. "Like the NFL, we were surprised and disappointed with certain elements of the show. In deference to our membership and fans, AOL and AOL.com will not be presenting the halftime show online as originally planned."

The $7.5 million AOL paid to sponsor the halftime show included several ads for its new TopSpeed service. The sponsorship, therefore, represents a significant discount to the $2.3 million CBS reportedly charged per 30-second Super Bowl ad.

They have only won the division title for 12 years because

a) Leo Mazzone is the absolute man

b) They went out in tight races and picked up a key player (ala Fred McGriff)

c) they paid their players a hefty sum to stay for long term contracts

d) their scouting department was superb

e) their talent evaluators were incredible...trading off "can't miss" prospects that turned into flops with other teams

The other team that I think you can compare them to with everything except for B and C above are the Montreal Expos. I foresee a long period of the exact same frustrations ahead.....and I feel the Expos pain.
