That a decent deal? There's a mail in rebate for another $20 off, so it's like $70.00.

I'd say if you're upgrading from a GeForce 3, GeForce 4 FX, or Radeon 8500 or earlier era card, it's worth it. If you're upgrading from a GeForce 4 Ti or Radeon 9000-9500 card it isn't.
As always, I must make a shameless ATi > nVidia plug.

I would have to agree with Karae here. I don't think I will ever buy another Nvidia card. ATI is really where it is at.

My opinion?
I think that immersing the card in taffy and then having a cow lick the taffy off might affect it's operation.

I am going to have to concur with Adex on this one... as he clearly seems to know exactly what is going on.
Also...
ATI > Nvidia

Yes:
ATI > nVidia
Too damned many issues with the Gforce for me to go back, had the 3 and 4.

Yeah well, don't have $200 for a 9800... so this'll have to do. =p
I just want to know if it's a decent card! =)

I just bought that card 2 days ago. My card took a dive on me the other night and in a pinch, it was a lifesaver. I have been pleased with it by and large. Performance is pretty good as well, although, EQ is a resource hog no matter what you use.

I am not technical enough to judge Adex's expertise here. Adex knows more about animals licking taffy off of things then I would ever want to!
I will jump on the bandwagon and say, "ATI > NVidia".

I have a 9700 pro, and it runs everything like a dream. Got it used for 250 Canadian. Awesome performance for the money.

I read on news site that the release date had been pushed back to September 04. The leaked HL2 version is still impressive is you want to test out your card in the meantime.

ATI > Nvidia
if you want to count the number of crash logs.

Say what you want but NVidia will ALWAYS be > ATI... I can't wait to look at this thread in another year or so... IMHO ATI has blown it's load just like NVidia did, now it time for NVidia to take back dominance.
Do NOT get the 5200 series though, it's significantly slower than a Ti4200.
My suggestion would be this:

or this:

Neither are the fastest thing out but both are about $150 and perform well. Plus they have Video In and Video out. I just built a PC around the FX 5700 version for my boss last month so he could do video editing and transfer all his old VHS tapes to DVD. As he isn't really a gamer so it was somewhat over kill but the 400 MHz RAMDAC makes the video editing great, he loves it and his kids are having a blast with the 3D stuff.
I have the LeadTek 4200 MyVIVO, I can play any game out thus far at 1280 with an AMD 2400+ that's all I need and it's ROCK Solid. I rarely reboot or shut down, I know I didn't my entire Christmas vacation (3 weeks). Say what you like but I don't know anyone who dosen't have a least SOME driver issues, no matter how small, with ATI... my time is too important to deal with their incompetence.

I have 0 driver issues with ATI.....
And im using hacked drivers on my 9700+ to make it perform like a 9800....
nya nya!
Im not convinced that ATI is the end all be all of video cards, but at the moment... they are the best thing out there... All my prior computers had Nvidia, and my next one might as well.. but ATI owns the market atm.

If you look at the stats on the top of the line in each there is no statistical difference. ATI wins one and NVidia wins another...
I'm glad you aren't having issues though

I had nothing but problems with the ATI card in two identical systems I recently built. Needless to say, I got an RMA from Newegg to return the ATI card and had another GeForce Overnighted to me so I can actually use the second comp.
While some of the card specs on the ATI were better, they were COMPLETELY un-noticed due to the number of crashes before it could show off.
