A girl that I know really likes Modest Mouse, and as such I've recently begun listening to them and they are really growing on me. I have only downloaded like 5 or so songs, any recommendations from any fans on what else I should check out? I don't really even know how many albums they have released, I believe it's at least two.
So far I'm enjoying "Polar Opposites" and "Summer" quite a bit.

I like "Lounge" OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS, its a nice easy going song, and the end of it its really relaxing, a song you'd like to lounge around to...

I approve of Modest Mouse.
One of the few bands that are better live than on record.

I first heard them about 4 years ago, they quickly grew on me also. Check out Nuetral Milk Hotel and Dismemberment Plan when you get some free time, you might like them too.

This post is over 3 years old.
They've become considerably more popular in that time.

I'm going to see them this weekend =). They're playing with The Shins and Silversun Pickups and Silverchair.
No one mentioned "Third Planet".

That should be a good show! I like Silversun Pickups, and I used to listen to Silverchair a lot back in college.

Agrred! _Wincing the Night Away_ is one of the most amazing albums I've heard in a long time! I've listened to it so much I'm starting to hate it (can't get the music out of my head!)!

Modest Mouse may be one of my favorite bands of all time. Intense, creative, and completely unhinged. Thier songs often derrange into organized chaos.
They just released a new EP titled "No One's First, And Your Next".
Here is a link to the amazing video for "King Rat" directed by Health Ledger (yes, the joker). It has a strong Pink Floyd "The Wall" feel to the animation. Anyway, great song and the video is fantastic.

If somebody pinned me down and forced me to decide what Sir Isaac Brock's 10 best songs are, in some particular order...
Dark Center of the Universe
Doin the Cockroach
Another City
Lives
Bukowski
Gravity Rides Everything
Wild Pack of Family Dogs
Education
Black Cadillacs
Autumn Beds
... but I still feel bad for leaving out so many deserving songs.
Live: The View, Dance Hall, Tiny Cities Made of Ashes, Invisible, Education
Guitar: Gravity Rides Everything, The View, Float On, Spitting Venom, Wild Pack of Family Dogs, Guilty Cocker Spaniels
playlist to spread to the people who don't yet know of Sir Isaac and his great deeds: doin the cockroach, 3rd planet, the view, missed the boat, florida, satin in a coffin, lives, another city
modest mouse
modest mouse
modest mouuuuuuse
isaac brock

"Float on", for me, is the best Modest Mouse. That's just for personal reasons. But it's a really great song

ones i listen to the most:
Jesus Christ was an Only Child
Sleepwalking
Stars are Projectors
Styrofoam Boots/It's all Nice
Teeth Like God's Shoeshine
All Night Diner
Universe is a Never Ending Math Equation
Worms vs. Birds
Doin' the Cockroach
Closing Time
I'm a big fan of Lonesome Crowded West, but I don't really like any of it after Moon & Antarctica. Guess I'm one of those, "the new stuff is no where near as good as the old stuff" hipsters. ugh
Never seen them live, which is a shame. I doubt I will b/c they probably wouldn't play any of these.

If that's how you feel about how Modest Mouse, you don't know Isaac Brock well enough. /slap

I don't. But I would assume they would want to play later stuff and their "hits" like pretty much Float On and everything after. It's sad. God vexed me from seeing this band. I am vexed. Bought tickets twice and had something come up (grandpa dying, severe illness). Since then, my love for them has waned.
Kind fell off for me when the old drummer quit.

They played some older stuff at Rothbury and it wasn't as good (live) as the newer stuff, which I'm glad for. I was screaming "COWBOY DAN!!!" at the top of my lungs for a while in hopes that he would play it. But I feel he's only getting better, lyrically, technically, creatively as the days run out.
