A few of the girls I work with and I are driving from SLC (via Vegas) to San Diego the weekend before Presidents day.

Any tips or suggestions for places we must see and things we should do?

If you're looking to do touristy stuff the wild animal park, seaworld, and the zoo are cool. I'd definitely recommend Birch (aka Scripps) Aquarium. Balboa park also has some cool museums.

Stick to the gas lamp district in downtown SD for night time stuff.

The weather is starting to warm up but the water is still pretty cold so I'm not going to recommend the beach.

Here's a good website for some of the local goings on.

Shanks pretty much hit it all.

Personally, I'd avoid the wild animal park. I guess it's something to see at least once, but generally speaking the animals are pretty far away, and all the cool animals (the carnivorous ones) are normally asleep during the day and in giant cages that are far from where the tram goes.

Sea World is a great time if you haven't been. :)

Telling people, "I know noisy rump" gets you an odd look most places as a minimum, I'm guessing.

Having been born and raised in San Diego area and living here again, I would definately recommend the Wild Animal Park. It is something to see at least once. I would also recommend Balboa Park if you are a museum type. We have several really good ones.

Coming from SLC? Pack all your belongings and don't go back. :p

If you were hitting Northern Cal I'd actually have real advice for you.

Yeah I'd love to, but I actually really like my job atm. Give me a while to become embittered and tired of the freaking snow.

Well I do plan on moving out of here in a few years. I want to go back to the Seattle area. If my (long-term) plans go the way they are looking now I might end up married and living in Ft. Lewis in a few years, which is close enough to Seattle for me. I only want to visit CA though :p

Oh yeah and thanks for the tips! I'm excited~!~

duly noted

I always think of the part in some Simpsons episode where they visit Blockoland (or something) and the little bus has lego whels so everytime the "tires" turn it nearly dumps the passengers out. Haha

yeah and remember how lisa wins that souveneir game and gets the block eiffel tower, but it's missing a peice so homer gets mad at the guy running the stand and says "oh yeah? well i've got a souveneir for you!" and it looks like he's reaching back to punch the guy but he extends his hand and there was a little snow globe that says homer on it?

that part was awesome
