I saw this 7,000,000 candle power, $500 dollar flashlight here:

Question is: What purpose could justify such a purchase?

I'm sure your redneck ass could spotlight some endangered species with it.

/em makes Tool Guy Noises...
7 million candlepower...hrmmmm...deep frying fish underwater?....
Actually I can see those being pretty useful in a lot of Marine applications...I've often used 2 million candlepower chasing critters in marine environs in bad weather and wished for more...Especially if it is immersible...

Note: If the X990 strobes you need to turn the light off and charge the battery.

I'd bring it to the next meeting for this group and shine it at the speaker until he turns his own light off:

Regardless of the candle power, me shirtless at night is still the brightest natural light source in the world.

My flashlight for scuba diving is 4 million candlepower and I wish it was even brighter. Can you take it underwater?
Would also be nice for underground stuff like spelunking or mining.
Candlepower doesn't mean a whole lot though unless you have an adequate reflective backing to widen the beam somewhat. That flashlight doesn't look like its very big.

I have always imagined modifying my trunk with a couple of those lights. Spring load the trunk with a bar to stop and hold it open halfway up with a couple of those lights mounted under the lid. Pop the trunk, flip a switch and blind those motherfuckers behind me with their brights on

You could use it for thorough cavity searches.

Ideal for finding the WMDs!
Also, as entertaining as it can be, I think our no-anonymous flamers thing applies to Ladex Xedal? IP? Or is it common knowledge to everyone but me?

Adex had posted a month or so ago asking about how EQ was these days. I had originally thought that Ladex was his new VV name for his new EQ account.

Non-Immersible...:/...
Looks like About a 4 -5 inch diameter bulb housing with variable focus...
Battery life's a bit short for constant use spelunking but would be nice for brief illumination of features for photos etc...
http://www.acrolights.com/index.html these guys do all HID lights apparently nice toys...Still like my big 100meter Pelican...
