I recently got and installed this card and it's great, no flaws so far except 1. When I load up eq it almost everytime crashes. Gives me a little everquest client crash window. I used the regular everquest client and eqw and both give me the same problem, sometimes it even goes as far as crashing the whole computer and rebooting by itself. Anybody know how to fix this? If so please let me know ;p Thanks in advanced.

What drivers are you using? The Catalyst 3.10 just came out (why they label them 3.10 after 3.9 is beyond me). I would recommend using 3.8 as I have noticed other issues with 3.9 and 3.10 in some games.

Because it's a revision number.. not a decimal :)

This was happening to me too, but it was happening with my Geforce 3 first..

It only happened in two zones -- PoTranq and BoT (around the stairwells that lead to each wing).

In PoT it ALWAYS crashed after I came out of clicky stone caves, and turned LEFT to go towards say PoK book area. No sooner do I exit the cave and orient myself in that direction -- BOOM she'd crash on me, giving me that crash client box.

It doesn't happen in any other zones. Or in any other games.
I recently upgraded to an ATI 9800 PRO, and, lo and behold, SAME THING.

Game crashes in those two spots, all the time. Doesn't matter which card I'm using.

So I deleted those zone files from my EQ dir, and redownloaded. No effect. I can crash my client 100% of the time in PoT simply by exiting the clicky stone cave , and going left such that my system is rendering the buildings and ocean below.

The only thing I can think of is it's a bug with DX 9. The card is trying to render something using DX 9, but EQ is still using 8 maybe. I haven't rolled my system back to direct X 8, but I think I might give that a try just to see. Or it could be an issue with Athlon's and direct x 9, not EQ and direct x 9.

I'd have to conduct more testing I suppose. But my crashes are isolated to just those two zone for the most part. I played in Valor last night for 4 hours, no problem, Tactics the night before for 3 hours, no problem, and have never had a crash in LDON or anyhthing.

A long time ago I had problems with the game crashing on me whenever I went into an underwater zone like Kedge. I thought it was my computer over heating or my vid card sucking but it turned out to be my sound card causing the problem. Sometimes the most unlikely suspect is the problem. I am not saying this is what is happening with your computer but just not to exclude anything out of hand.

Most companies follow the basic guide line of using 1/100's for minor revisions, 1/10's for major revisions and 1's for new versions. If the Catalyst drivers were being issued in minor revisions, the numbers should have started 3.01, 3.02, 3.03 with the first major revision being 3.1. If ATI did indeed release 9 major revisions, well then that kinda explains why their cards are rock solid but their drivers are teh suck.

ATI is canadian, evidently they do things differently there, eh? :)

EQ is evil, EQ is baad!

Could crash for me too during login with a 9800 Pro. Then I got corruption one day playing EQ. The strange thing is that with my old comp and a GeForce card same thing happened when playing EQ - Fried video memory.
