Flu Shot

My employer means well, offering flu shots next week to help cut down on folks getting sick.

Well, half of my team is now out with the flu, including me, and we will be home sick instead of getting the shot.

Note to company leadership: Provide the fucking shots before half the goddamn staff gets sick. I've lost five pounds in two days and most of that is snot. Nice huh?

Eww, that's gross! :(

Anyways, I am not sure of how severe the outbreak is,
however, Mycoplasma Pneumonia is hitting a mess of
people across the US. I've had it for well over 2 weeks
now and my son did too. I have asthma on top of it and
was almost convinced for a few days I was going to die.

The symptoms can last up to a month and you can pass
it to others between 7-10 days of getting it yourself. I
heard in some cases people end up with meningitis along
with some other things.

Make sure it's the flu. :)

Hope you feel better soon too.

I'd say forget those flue shots, waste of money.
I took one at the beginning of October hoping for a healthy season since I'm pregnant. Not more than 3 weeks later, the week before Halloween, I was so sick I couldn't sleep at night.
There's so many variations of viruses that it's impossible that the shot will guard you against them all.
So get your immunity up, bundle up when it's cold and avoid coughing and sneazing people if you can. If that one person who brought this crap to your workplace stayed home when feeling a bit sick, you'd all be saved the hassles now.

Blech, that was probably the worst thing about commuting into and around manhattan, unavoidable sick people. I'm betting the whole damn town is going to get sick; first it was in the 70's, then it rains (again) all while the temp drops to below 50. Occuring all in a matter of four days, the tri-state area is doomed

Plus they inject the tracking chip into you.

I say if you're healthy, and not very young or very old, don't get one!

I get one every year, and haven't caught the nasties even when I'm surrounded by sick people. I much prefer to save my sick days for hangovers :D

I don't get one every year and haven't had the flu either!

Something about injecting "best guess" dead viruses into my body doesn't sit well with me.
What Is the Flu Shot?
The flu shot is a vaccine (say: vac-seen) that protects against the influenza virus. Like other shots you've had, it helps your body fight infections. The flu shot contains a small amount of dead, or killed, flu viruses. The flu shot won't give you the flu, but those dead viruses are enough to get your body's immune system ready to fight off the real flu when it comes around this winter.

Until they have some way of looking into the crystal ball and predicting which strain is gonna go around this season, no flu shot fer me.

Waste of time and money.

I never get the flu shot. Studies have shown that those that get the shot actually have a pretty good chance of getting the flu. My wife got the shot last year and she was sick a lot. I didn't and was just fine.

Best way to avoid catching teh flu is to wash your hands a lot. Those fuckers who shake and leave are spreading shit around. I am paranoid and usually grab an extra towel to open a public bathroom door with if I am forced to use one. I haven't been sick in years though so it must work.

Strange thing about this post is that I saw Seebs yesterday at... dare I say... THE MATRIX! and he looked pretty healthy to me.

Just FYI Seebs, they did the shots in Conway 2 weeks ago so all of us here are ok :) Little Rock is just a little behind, that is all :)

I work at a hospital as network tech, and we got offered free flu shots, and i said yes. No side effects straigth away, but same night i was sweating and freezing, and when i woke up i almost couldnt stand on my legs, but had a 4 day course to attend to, so had to get up, so had to try and figure out how to fix IBM servers while sick. Helped around midday, then i only had a nasty headacke.

NEVER again'

You may think it's funny, but it's snot.

Oh, and not believing in flu shots is like not believing in the letter B.

I was shitty sick, I just look that damn good. I had to go there since I pre ordered six tickets for my team through moviefone and they needed my card.

I actually enjoyed the movie, especially the nipple twisting dance sequence. I want to die and become a french club owner.

I would have been been in better spirits if my video card would not have gone out. No EQ while sick. Jesus, what's the point of being sick?

New system finally will be ordered within a week. Serial ATA is the lastest pleasure point I'm adding to the system.[/quote]

Thank goodness someone besides me an Mal noticed the nipple twisting... I was beginning to think I imagined it :)

Sucks about the card, hope you are feeling better though and look at it this way... you will get a new system a little ahead of time :)

The shots seemed to come out a lil late this year

I got mine - I've been getting them every year for a couple years and I have been MUCH less sick during the winter than I used to be - for me they work - do they prevent against everything? no of course not - but after coming down with a really horrible flu a few years ago I never have since - I just got over a cold....it doens't prevent cold - it prevents a couple types of flu they think might be prevalent this year - the pnumonia bah that isn't spelled right - that is separate
