EDIT: Calabasas fucking rocks! At least it does if you like cycling. Basically, I'm 12 miles North of Malibu, and I have the Santa Monica mountains as my playground for when I go out riding. Nothing like a 2000 foot descent at 30-60 mph to end up near the most beautiful parts of Pacific Coast Highway.
Calabasas is far enough from LA that it's not too crowded, and conveniently close to some of the nicest places in Cali.
