Scary Movies

Post by Elidain »

Seeing how Halloween is right around the corner I'm looking to buy some good scary dvds. I have your basic scary movies like Freddy and shit. Just can't think of many worth buying. Any ideas? I don't care what type they are...slasher zombie ect.

For scary shit, you can't go wrong with Poltergeist.

Poltergeist Exorcist are the only ones I can think of this early in the morning. The original hellraiser scared me as a kid *shrugs*

About Schmidt.. it doesn't get much scarier than a naked Kathy Bates.

Seriously tho, it's almost a tradition in my house to watch War of the Worlds on Halloween.

They need to do a modern version of WotW. I'm not talking this Will Smith bullshit or and other A name star. Keep it grass roots and stick to the book as much as possilbe. I want to see tripods dropping poision gas on huge cities and burning people alive with it's heat ray. It would be awsome!

Omen was already mentioned. So I am gonna have to say Rosemary's Baby was kinda eerie. As for stupid movies that leave you with that wondering feeling, "They" creeped out my girlfriend. Had to turn lights on in rooms for her and check closets.

Another creepy movie I remember from ages ago....They Go Bump in the Night (? someone help me out with that title).

DONT RENT "THEY". ITS TERRIBLE.

It has to be one of the most un-memorable, un-scary horror movies Ive and the acting is horrible.

--Fun halloween movies if you havent seen them are the Romero zombie movies. They are intentionally comical in some parts, but they are just plain fun. "Night of the Living Dead", "Dawn of The Dead", "Day of The Dead". Those are just classic.

**Make sure they say George Romero on em, there are some bad remakes and unofficial sequal/parodies. And get the black and white Night of the Living Dead, not color**

--"The Ring" was pretty damn scary I thought. Worth renting atleast. The Japanese one it was based off of is better though. That is called "Ringu", Make a night of it and try to rent both and compare =D.

--"Dog Soldiers" is sweeeeeet. Mentioning it because I don't think enough people have seen it or even heard of it. Its about these a group of military trainees on a training mission out in the mountains that goes wrong, as they get hunted down by Werewolves. Deffinately worth renting. Deffinately one of the more interesting horror movies in the last couple years.

--"Event Horizon" scared the shit out of me when I was younger(13 or so). I havent seen it in a long time though, so Im not sure if it would scare me now. It may suck, but its just that when I think of scary movies it comes to mind...from way back in the day though.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com is a good palce to look for good ones that you may have never heard of, or http://www.imdb.com

Never said "They" was good. In fact I thought it sucked. However it was the fact that it sucked at the end that left her with an uneasy feeling about how come there was no definite end.

Great movie :)

Jacob's Ladder always gives me the willies as well, same with the first hellraiser. Most of the others are just stupid.
