Question for you New Yorkers please.
I'm going to be in Newark over labor day weekend, and i wanted to catch the Yankees game on Monday.
how much of a clusterfuck is it to get from:
1. random newark location to
2. the Bronx
and from the Bronx to:
3. Newark airport
not spending $100 each way on a cab preferred,
any ideas appreciated, thanks.

It can get pretty rough here Vor. Are you renting a car?

I assume most Yankee games are sold out... but I could be wrong. You already got tickets?

sad to see people i know still owning tickets to the most worthless mullet fiasco misunderstood contract disagreement sorry excuse for a "sport" in the last 2 days.
F U Baseball pussies. More time to beat your little weenie to farmteens.com. A fuckin' men. Baseball is downright unamerican...thus it should be exported and tested in mehico and canada. Tests in canada only to conclude an swift and brutal bombing of quebec. kk? I think baseball players might really enjoy tthe raw, dry fuck that post-mortem sex that slightly-crispy french canadians have to offer.

I assume you're just flying in and staying over near the airport.
Truthfully, it's a pain in the ass to get to the bronx from there. Most people take the turnpike until 18ish (haven't done it in years) and ride the GW bridge over. Then you take the cross bronx expressway to exit 3 or 4, the sign says for yankee stadium. But I would never wish that ride on my enemies.
Look into taking the Clipper (it's a ferry) over. Make sure it's a day game. Make sure you don't get lost if you decide to drive.

i'm not gonna drive.
it is a day game 1pm start. No i dont have tickets searyx, but i can get tickets if i do decide to go.
i agree i am pretty put off by the strike situation. I have never seen yankee stadium before though, and i like old stadiums and baseball history (cause i sure as hell don't like giving George Steinbrenner a nickel of my $$).
thanks for the info

game transport.

Von,
you can take the subway all the way to the stadium. Driving is not an option, beleive me. What airport are you flying in to ?
can get a cab to manhattan for 30 bucks from any of them. If your arriving the day before, use of a car, drive to Hoboken and take the
Path train to the city.
great place to see a game.

yeah i was wondering how regularly the PATH train ran from Hoboken.
I'm flying out of Newark. But yah the B/D runs from Penn Station right to the Bronx, so that looks like the route.
PATH

path is every 15 minutes, on average.
also newark airport has a new train line in it that goes to Newark Penn,
so one stop to the city. can take NJ transit from there.

Driving in from New Jersey is never really that bad during the day. But the Ferry from Weehawken is not bad. It's about a 2 hour ride though.

Newark .... /cringe
Flashbacks of many a trip to and through that Airport. There were delays through there one time because there was snow falling in Denver ... I shit you not. I love the monorail there, though: "Please step lively to the door ...". Makes you want to prance or something.
Anyway, do yourself a favor, Vor. Skip the Yankees and hit the museums instead. Seeing Monet's water lillies in person is a religious experience.

Well Vor's ass might get screwed if baseball goes on strike. You wanna have fun? Go to Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn on Monday and bring
plenty of weed
JK, museums and plays will do...

Newark is not that bad during the day just don't go down there late at night. We sometimes make 3am runs to Newark for JJ's Hotdogs down there. Just have to be quick hehe.
