I've been quite happy with Linksys for 4 port routers. Got one that had a 2.4GHz wireless module with wireless PCMCIA card for 119 at best buy about a month ago. Threw the wireless into the laptop and had all the rooms wired up for DSL. Been working fine. You could also take a look at Netgear or D-Link... but I haven't had as much successes with them in the past as I have with Linksys. Plus linksys' customer support team is great. Spent 2 hours on the phone with a guy trying to isolate a port on the router to get EQ to run and he was pleasant and courteous the whole time.

I use a DLink 704P, had zero problems with it with anything I use.

I've had really good results with the Netgear boxes. Most of the home ones are 4 switched ports, with a routed\NATed "WAN" port that goes into the DSL\cable box. They all have metal cases, and will stack with other devices (unlike most). I've got a FM114P right now, I run copper in the front of the house and wireless for the areas that were a pain to run copper too. The parralel port on it is pretty handy too :)

I sort of wish I'd held out for an 802.11g box, but oh well.

*Edit - You might as well get one that does wireless too, it doesn't cost much more and saves you from having to buy another box later.

I also use a netgear. 100% reliable for me and the fact I can telnet into it using the comm port on the back or use a web interface sold me on it.

Really, you can't beat Linksys for customer support and quality. I've been using linksys routers in offices, and at home for as long as I can remember doing networking. Only one has gone out, and it was a high traffic one in a large office. The linksys guys told me it was probably bad from the start, but was working just barely, and not up to par.

So, I would go linksys, because that's what I've always used.

Used all the above before but currently running a little Linksys, easy to setup and has been working without a hiccup for over 2 years.

I've got a shitload of interference near my house.. two power substations, a massive chemical processing plant.. anything wireless gets about as good of a reception as trying to shout through solid steel.

Using a DLink DI-604 here. Older model but had no problems with it.

That's what I thought too when I was debating on routers. There's an airport two blocks away and a power substation as well. I decided to go ahead and try wireless since I could just return it if it didn't work. It works perfect so far. It also cost $100 more than just a regular router too after you buy the router and the receiver.
