Web Page Management

Post by murr »

Ran across a pretty good webhosting deal, $9.95 a month, free domain name registration and renewal, 1600 mb hd space, 40 gb/month transfer, 75 subdomains, 300 email addresses, unique ip, etc..

Anyway, trying to decide on how to go about management. Server supports MySQL (25 million Conueries/month), PHP4, CGI...
Anyway, I've had some experience with C++, and two of my friends going into this with me are CS majors, albeit with no PHP or Perl experience. Was just curious if anyone had any suggestions on what to try out, and learn along the way -- I stumbled across e107.org, which looks promising.

Thanks.

I'd recommend from personal experience http://www.phpwebhosting.com

The only thing they don't do the same or better is offer free domain name registration, but with godaddy being only 9 bucks a year or less in quantity, it's not that huge of an issue.

Php and MySQL are probably the most popular, and therefor most supported db/scripting combo out there.

http://www.hotscripts.com for just about everything you may need
http://sourceforge.net as well, but almost everything on Hotscripts is hosted at SourceForge, and is easier to navigate/search through.

if you were walking around and you came upon a tulip with tits, would you let it be for the rest of the world to enjoy.. or would you pick it and carry it off to a secluded area to motorboat them?
