Canno heading to Portland, Part 2

Well, my last day is this Friday. I sent my goodbyes, etc. Man, this is hard to do!!! After 4.5 years at one place, I had fallen into a routine and lost so much ambition. Now, I am finally making a move and still cling to that comfort zone of having a secure job.

I keep reminding myself that I will find a new job and find success in Portland....I think I will still, but there are those doubts lingering in the back of my mind...

Anyway, in ~2 weeks, I will be heading to Bend to visit with Mom and try to soak in my new environment...then on to Portland(Lake Oswego to be precise) to make some calls, etc.

Early good news is I may have a 3 month contract lined up with Intel to assist in their AP migrations.... :D

Definately enjoy your time off and the new area. I moved to CO 3 years ago and thought the whole new life thing, and found a lot of things didnt change. 3 years later I work at the same place, but have a different job and things are just now starting to feel 'different'. Anyway, enjoy.

Best of luck to you canno. And remember, if all else fails, you could open a southwestern chili hut and ex-lax emporium.

Keep in touch and may success follow you wherever you go.

Lake Oswego?!?!?!??!

Eewww you're one of "those" type of people.

You'll have to hit up "El Ranchitos" mexican in downtown Lake Oswego when you get settled in - fantastic mexican food. And conveniently located right across the street from "Tillamook Ice Creamery" - which makes delicious burgers and has the best ice cream around. (Yeah I used to work there in high school - was PHAT) And if you can survive a trip to Giant Burger - you da man.

Hehe, actually Lake Oswego is very nice. It's one of the more affluent neighborhoods in the Portland suburbs. Which gives the people who live there the potential "snob" reputation.

It's not uncommon for Lake Oswego parents to buy their 16 year old child a new BMW for their 16th birthday, Lake Oswego females to be soccer moms, etc. It's quite a suburban stereotype - which makes it the butt of some local jokes. Nothing really wrong with it though. And a new shopping center / movie theatre complex is going in nearby - wuwu.

Traffic can be a bit heavy, but it's not too bad. If you're working for Intel in Hillsboro - your commute might be a bit ugly - but probably not so bad compared to California.

I've lived in or near LO most of my life, so if you have any questions about anything in the area, let me know.

:)

Lake Oswego also has the highest pecentage of shitty drivers in the tigard/tualatin/sherwood/lake oswego/beaverton area too so watch out =)

Well, yall must remember where I have lived for the last 14 years.

Newport Beach - Super rich area with superdooper assholes who drive poorly, but not as bad as LA

Santa Barbara - Super nice area as well, with shitty drivers galore!

Canoga Park - Super ghetto! One of worst accident rates in CA.

I think I can handle Oswego drivers just fine! :P In fact, I will be smiling for a long time, finally living in a nice area again!

Today is the last day of work, yay!! I think I will go home around 11:30 or so :P
