WOOT Moving to Michigan

No longer cursed in Cincinnati, land of the Bungals, and the Rots.

But even more cursed in the Land of Lions and Tigers, and Red Wings oh my!!

(Oh wait the Lions, and Red Wings are better than the Bungals, and the Rots are not much better than the Tigers, oh yeah and Michigan is my home state, and oh yeah I will be closer to Kyoukan, but FURTHER from Kentucky!!)

I found a job in a city with 19.4% unemployment and still need to recover from the shock!

My condolences.

Seriously though, I hope the job works out (19.4%... ouch!) and glad you're going where you want to be.

The real question is, who will you be rooting for now? OSU or Michigan?

Umm who said I ever stopped voting for U of M.

My order of pref is;

1. Michigan
2. Michigan State
3. Any Big 10 team except those Penn losers
4. Anyone except Florida teams

Grats Kylere.

Make sure you pass your new number to me when you go....you know I go up near there like every month.

You didn't miss much at the bachelor party this weekend, the strippers did a no show. So we basically watched TV and drank beer. It was still fun, just nothing really crazy.

I guess they got into an arguement about which male bar to go to and just settled on watching a Sex and the City marathon whilst drinking Smirnoff Ice. Next time go with female strippers, they are a lot easier to find.

Hahah Ouch!

You realize however, that you've guaranteed the forum a Pilsburry reply that details every single event from that evening including what color socks he had on.

I was the only one sober enough to drive, and the largest car there fit 5...I didn't even have my car there, I rode shotgun in Claritins.

I did grab 2 guys and claritins car to go to regular bars looking for off-duty strippers to recruit. We found one girl who agreed to come pretty quick. She asked if she could bring her two girl friends with her...and they looked like they might strip also. And we said that was fine. That was like 11pm maybe. Just before 2am we talked again on the phone with her and she said she would be over when the bar closed...but I left the party at 4am and she hadn't shown yet.

I notice a suspicious lack of detail for a Pilsbury post! You paid her up front and got "stiffed" didn't you?

I did not think women made Pilsbury stiff

No, neither group of strippers got so much as a $1...that's the weird part.

It's not like we were offering a low number either...the amount was a good chunk of money. They would have walked with maybe $250-300 for an hour of work.

I think it might because we threw it in a hotel room....I heard that makes them nervous.

Now I know if I ever throw a bachelor party...stripper attendence is not guaranteed, I'll have a back-up.

Grand Rapids originally.. but family moved to Mount Pleasant 3 years ago, and since I was in a bad living situation, I moved back in with them.

But I attend CMU.

I'd be up for a VV Michigan get together.

There is a slight chance I could make a MI VV get together also. Just because I'm there so often I might already be in town.

yeah

Michigan has like the most rising unemployment rates in the country. The nation average may be going down but michigan unemployment rises. Im from Michigan myself, the only real places that are hiring are places where you can be terminated without reason. So much for job stability eh? Oh well just more time for some to play everquest *cough* lol.

Any MI unemployment figures always include th UP, which really drag our figures down. Since Michigan is so large, it's pretty hard to openly say our entire state sucks for employment. For instance, Grand Rapids and Lansing have been booming for years, while Detroit and Flint have been decreasing.

Overall, I think we're pretty much like every other state.

Make it an OH/MI get together and locate it as central to everyone interested in attending as possible. I'd probably go.

Posted: September 9, 2003, 5:43 pm
by Pilsburry
I think it would take place near ann arbor....everyone in Michigan is pretty much int he bottom half of the lower penninsula. And ann arbor is kinda central to that....plus it's close to Ohio.

If they did MI/OH not much would change, they would maybe think about Toledo, but Toledo sucks balls.

Ann Arbor is easy to get to from Ohio, you just take 75 North to is it Route 26? I think that's the name..it branches off north of Toledo, possibly off the loop..but the signs mention like "24 to Ann Arbor" so if you watch the signs around toledo you can't go wrong...and you skip all the detroit traffic.

BTW I usually end up in Bloomfield Hills or Clarkston when I visit.

Posted: September 9, 2003, 5:43 pm
by Zamtuk
That would make it in Toledo. I hate that fucking cesspool of a city. Detroit is roughly 3-4 hours from Columbus, 3 from Cleveland, 4-5 from Cincy, and 1 hour from Toledo.

Hey look, me and Zamtuk agree on something.

Posted: September 9, 2003, 6:08 pm
by Sylvus
Ann Arbor is roughly 40 minutes north of Toledo on US 23. And there is... not a ton to do here. But as far as meeting at a bar or whatever, it might work. Detroit wouldn't be bad now, they have casinos there!

by Zamtuk
Sylvus wrote:Detroit wouldn't be bad now, they have casinos there!
Yeah, they are called sidewalks. Because it's always a gamble if you can cross one without being mugged and losing your money!

Posted: September 9, 2003, 6:42 pm
by Pilsburry
We agree again! Toledo sucks balls and Detroit is unsafe.

Most towns are alike....Ann Arbor is a mid-size college town. I bet there is tons to do...I mean not like white water rating or casinos...but usually something like this would go down in a bar or restaurant...and I'm sure you have plenty of those.

Ann Arbor is a great town. I have an aunt that lives there and used to love going up there (being a UM fan was a bonus too). Of course going there meant going to the Ann Arbor art festival. :?

I love Ann Arbor -- of course, the in-laws are U of M graduates and huge fans, plus they live 30 min from there... so it's pretty given that I would like it too

Hey, I went to the Ann Arbor Art Festival too this summer! Got some kick ass art and had a ton of fun. We had lunch at this place on campus called Dominicks. They had killer nachos!

Dominick's is a lot of fun. I really like the open-air atmosphere there, unfortunately it's only open from like April-September or something and closes down for the colder weather.

The Art Fair is always a big deal, though I generally avoid it. Too many people come and take over my city! =P

I'm not positive if that's a compliment or an insult, so either thank you or fuck you, whichever is appropriate. :P

LOL Sylvus :D

I enjoy coming to Michigan, it's not that far for us. We go to Farmington Hills several times a year to visit Rowandil & Fazzar (my husband's sister and her hubby), and we love the atmosphere of that area. The only bad thing is the drive through downtown chitown on I 80/94... always takes about 2-3 hours just to get to Indiana :(

I don't have much experience in Detroit.. only times we go there was for a symphony concert, plays or dinner, so we generally drive, park, watch, leave... so don't spend much time there LOL

We'll probably be in MI again sometime next month, then again for thanksgiving... can't wait!

My family is all over Michigan...I grew up there actually, the first 14 years of my life were in like 10 cities around the detroit area....Rochester, Waterford, Birmingham, Bloomfield...etc...then I went national haha.

I have an uncle, his wife, and 5 cousins who live in Ann Arbor....although I only really want to see one of the cousins....but the trip would be well worth it to me even if the VV meeting wasn't going on.
