What is the most INTENSE movie scene you can think of?

by Searyx
By intense, I don't mean scary, nor suspensful. What I mean is the scenes which make you sit up and cheer, make you sit back and go "Wow...", or stand up and say "JESUS!". You know? INTENSE.
For instance, when Rob Roy cuts Archibald Cunningham from shoulderblade to heart.
The most intense film moment in recent memory that I can think of is from L.A. Confidential. The scene where Russell Crowe's character puts a gun in a rapist's mouth and says... well hell, see the scene for yourself!

A lot of Black Hawk Down was intense I thought.
Also the "It puts the lotion on its hands" scene...

Probally the opening to Saving Private Ryan. For me that was to close to some real life events I'd rather forget.

Scene in pulp fiction where the woman thought the heroin was cocaine and had to get the needle of atropene(sp) in her heart.... that freaked me out for some reason.

The end of 6th Sense when you discovered the truth about Bruce Willis's character. That totally blindsided me and left my mind scrambling.
In John Carpenter's "The Thing", when the dog's face splits open and all the tenticles wiggle out of him and start killing he other dogs in the pen. I saw that as a kid and it was probably one of the scariest things in the memory of my youth.
There really are tons of scenes. Schindler's List alone had OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of horrific and intense scenes.

Thought of 2 more...
Last scenes in Seven and Usual Suspects were rather intense.
Most intense movie seen in what aspect?

Have to go with the endings of both The Sixth Sense and Braveheart.
Pretty hard to top a close up of someone face as they are getting their guts yanked out.

Dawn of the Dead - When Roger drops his backback between the semis as they are trying to block off the mall entrances. Every time I yell at the screen "Leave the damn things you idiot! You live in a mall for crying out loud! You can get replacements!"

The end of Better Off Dead where Lane Meyer has to Ski against the Top Ski guy on the k12 run but one of his ski falls off so he races teh dude with ONLY ONE SKI!!! Then the paper boy chases him on his cool ski bike saying "i want my two dollars" and it makes the race even more intense! Then Lane amd the top ski dude ditch the paper boy and he falls off a cliff(i hope he was ok, hes just a kid you know). Then Lane wins the race on ONLY ONE SKI!!! and he gets the girl too! Then when you think think its all over, Lane has to sword fight Ricky with ski poles and Lane ends up winning by making Rickis mom fall on Ricki!!! That movie was intense, almost as cool as NINJAS! but not quite

Are we talking shock value?
In art school, I once saw a movie made by Salvador Dali. It had the typical sureal moments, like someone pully a baby grand piano that was loaded up with some sort of meat carcasses, but there is one scene that really stands out above all others:
A person is seated (may have been a woman), and standing nearby is a barber, sharpening a razor with a sharpening belt. He then takes up position behind the one seated, bringing his hands near the head. The scene cuts to a closeup of an eye, which is then sliced horizontally by the razor. Very intense, with blood oozing out, and totally surprizing.
Legend has it that he used an actual pig's head/eye to film the sequence. It certainly looked real.

The scene in "Full Metal Jacket", very near the end, when Joker caps the VC sniper-girl. Hardcore, man. Fucking. Hard. Core.

The part in the Beavis & Butthead movie where the guy lights his fart on fire.
That was as intense as it comes.

Dunno if any of you have seen a Japanese horror/suspense movie called "Audition" or not....
...but the last 30 minutes or so of that movie are about as intense as I ever care to see on film. And they do it without even actually showing much gore. Just intensity.
It's the kind of intensity that when it played at a local art-house theater here in Dallas, before people could get their tickets, they had to read and acknowledge a waiver saying that the theater would not be held liable for any emotional distress.
The girl in that movie is creepy as all hell

Hard choice, but top of my list is the blood soaked sex scene in Angel heart with Mickey Rourke and Cosby's Lisa Bonet.. especially if you can ever find the director's cut of the movie.
Also have to say for intense moments, I agree with Sixth Sense and Se7en. Se7en just kicked ass with that ending. And frankly, few things can beat the Eveil Dead 2 scene when Ash suits up to kill some deadites, attaching the chainsaw to his arm, sawing off the shotgun and the inevitable "Groovy."
And even today, some scenes in Exorcist still freak me a bit...something about a demonic girl fucking herself with a crucifix is just so wrong, but so compelling at the same time.
And last but not least, Devil's Advocate.. yeah, Keanu sucked with a southern (southern cali) accent, but the end scene with Pacino was awesome! And his way out of it all... See it if you haven't...the whole movie is freaky with some great scenes throughout. Besides, there ia always a good reason to see Charlize Theron nekkid...dayam...

The redhead (who turns out to be his diabolic half-sister) is totally smokin hot, as well. Much boobage in that flick.

The scene in Saving Private Ryan where the German slowly drops the knife into the soldier's heart, whispering "it'll all be over soon" to him. Thought it was a better reminder of "war is hell" than the beginning bloodbath.

The scene in the Matrix when Neo first broke out. I had no idea wtf was happening. Then when they showed all the babies with tubes stuck in them it made me nautious.
I actually had to leave the theatre and go to the bathroom in a cold sweat. I missed like 10 minutes of the movie.
I've seen it several times since tho.

I thought the scenes from A Clockwork Orange when Alex beats up the guy while singing "Singin in the Rain" and when Alex kills the woman with the giant penis were some of the most intense I've seen.

The knife scene in Saving Private Ryan got me too, it was not so much intense as it was disturbing.
And, honestly, when I went to see Blair Witch Project in the theatre with 3 friends and the rest of the theatre totally empty, some of the scenes in the woods were
really intense.

Yep, that was trippy.
Shot: Razor nearing the eye.
Shot: Clouds cutting across a full moon.
Shot: Razor cutting through the eye.
That Dali was one crazy bastage.
*edit* In addition, who doesn't drag two dead donkeys inside of a grand piano across a livingroom? hmmm?

In Hannibal when he is feeding Ray Liotta's brain to Ray Liotta or in the same movie when he throws the Italian detective out the window with his belly cut open and his neck in a noose!
INTENSE!

Speaking of Hannibal, do you think Red Dragon will be any good? Also, isn't the Rock playing Hannibal in a different movie? As in Hannibal of Carthage not the cannibal.

The actors in Red Dragon are all awesome, Ed norton(one of my favorite actors) , Anthony Hopkins, Emily Watson, Ralph Feinnes, Phillip Seymore-Hoffman, Harvey Keitel...thats a killer cast, all really good actors. Actors dont mean everything but the other 2 movies before this were good enough that this movie looks very promising.

You're all forgetting your roots.
"Squeal like a pig. SQUEEEAAAAL!"
As an aside, it's a perfect way to end a relationship without all the hassles of normal communication. Just break into a good old Deliverance sexual frenzy with your eyes open and flail around for a bit before the end. *** DISCLAIMER *** Method will not work on Kookyen, she just gets hot.

I just watched Gladiator again last night. I think the scene where Maximus has to take off his helm and give his name to the Emperor in the Colloseum was pretty intense.

There are a lot of them, one that comes to mind though is one of the scenes from The Abyss. Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio are in the submersible away from the main rig and it is wrecked and leaking water. There is only one suit (Ed's) and no time to switch them around so Mary comes up with the plan of her drowning and Ed hauling her back to the base to be revived. Her logical coming up with the only plan that gives her a chance to live but then the panic of the reality of the water filling the chamber (and the slim chance of the plan actually succeeded) I always thought was well done.

Nice one Chmee! I remeber that well.
I was 13 years old when I saw that in the theater with my first girlfriend. It was the first time I ever touched a boob, and the Abyss will forever have a special place in my heart.

In the movie Commando with Arnold!
Where his house is being taken over by Green Brets. He runs in to one and the guy says something along the lines of " Your ass is mine. Im a Green Bert!" Arnold replys " I eat Green Brets for Breakfast yaaa" and beats the shit out of him. Its funny and intense!

Good one, Chmee. The Abyss had quite a few scenes that would qualify as intense.
The diver taking that first gulp of super-oxygenated liquid.
The crew huddled around the LCD wondering if said diver was still alive on the bottom of the ocean.
The crane nearly dragging the rig over the edge of the chasm.
The wacko millitary type wiging out and cutting himself across the arm over and over while other people around him are conversing.
Good stuff, good movie.

Pacino laying out his plan to kill the cop in the godfather as the camera slowly focuses in on him. And well, quite a few other scenes in those movies.
Bllood soaked Gibson hacking away at the dead soldier in the Patriot.
DeNiro playing baseball in the untouchables
Gibson playing three little piggies in payback
Pitch black.. most of the movie.. but one good one is where the creatures are first pouring out of their cave in the millions..
Apocolypse Now "who's in charge here?" or "never get out of the boat" and of course, the wacked out natives falling to their knees for Sheen
Good cop bad cop in LA Confidential. What a riot.
And already mentioned but bears repeating - I am gladiator!
