And don't forget the health benefits....

Keep it up.

How is the diet going? I've leveled off at 167'ish, I'm exchanging fat for muscle now, scales doesn't seem to be moving. That's fine though....my goal was 175.

I'm going to be in Flint from 14-17th for the woodward dream street thing...well that's more near bloomfield probably, but I'll be staying in Clarkston. Yes, that means I start driving on thursday, I have one day of business on the front end.

All those years of listening to you bitch about us getting seats for dinner in non-smoking sections and now that I hardly get to hang with you you QUIT?!?!

BAH!

Oh and to the magi who said food should start smelling and tasting better already... that isn't a good thing. Kylere is finishing up a massive diet deal right now also... Kylere how much weight you lost in the last 4 mths now?

Kylere, keep it up man. What you are doing is highly respectable and will extend your life. Not to mention, you wont be hooked up to tubes when you are older

I was 341 on January 24th, this morning I weighed in at 257. My record low so far is 254, but that was the day I stopped smoking, so I have had a minor bubble since but it is on the way back down.

From 257 I have 52lbs left to lose for my target weight of 205. For those that may ask I am 6'3, and 205 is my target weight as per the Army Height Weight Standards for a 33 Year old, 6'3 Male.

At the current rates by my 34th Birthday I should be at my target weight of 205lbs, have smoking 5 months behind me, be fully single and happy for the first time in a decade.

Much respect for that. Be our role model bud. When yer a big man and you lose 5 pounds no one notices but when you lose close to 100 pounds people really notice. Hell, I lose 5 pounds in a good trip to the bathroom but I can't keep that up every day.

Very impressive, much kudos to people who do this. Both my parents used to smoke quite a bit, now my mother smokes like one a day and dad maybe 3.
For those that may ask I am 6'3, and 205 is my target weight as per the Army Height Weight Standards for a 33 Year old, 6'3 Male.
Just curious, anybody have a clue of what it would be for a 6,1, 27 year old male?

Magus! MagUS! One Magus, two Magi. Magi is the plural.

That's my spelling nazi attack for the day. You're welcome.

I'm 6'1 and when I was in a couple of years ago they had just changed the reqs to 200 I believe for the Navy.

I'm only 11 lbs over the military goal for people my height....

Now I consider myself out of shape.... pretty heavily out of shape.

Do they have like goals like "run the 5 minute mile" or "bench 200 lbs" type goals also? Because if not.... we could be recruiting a bunch of out of shape pussies like myself and that is scary ;-)

OK maybe I'm not really a pussy but I wouldn't want a military full of people my caliber... especially since I have minor martial arts training and I am sure that is not a requirement. (not that anyone that wasn't in better shape than me but the same general size couldn't kick my ass these days)

I want to get in better shape but most of my time is spent at work... then half the remaining time I am chasing after Claire (who is now 13 mths old guys....) then with what little time is left I am doing dishes or cooking dinner... then with my whopping 8 free-time hours I end up left with per week I play games not exercise.

BTW Kylere check your PM

an 18 year old male is expect to complete the following with minimal break time between each event ( have seen it under 1 minute between up to 10 minutes between each event)

42 Pushups in 2 minutes
52 Situps in 2 Minutes
2 Mile run in under 15:54

However these are the bare bloody minimums and the Army finds ways of getting rid of people scoring minimums, a more realistic expectation would be maxing each event at like 82,92, and 11:54.

Since there is no way you are gonna pull it off Claritin, I would not sweat it heh.

Good

That means they have high enough standards to not let me in.

But that is good because I didn't want in... I just wanted to make sure the Army would let someone in all squishy and soft like me.

At one point in time I would have been able to do all that.... like 7 years ago.... but I weighed 75 lbs less back then. Odds are I would have been able to pass the tests but would have failed due to being underweight ;-)

hum I am too light! heh I sit at 175 or so now, working my way back up since I took a (way too long) break from working out. Still could probably pull off the other requirements, even though I have always been way more of a sprinter than a long distance runner.
