deja vu

I don't know if I can properly explain this but have any of you ever had one of those? I think that's what it is called.

Like when you hear someone say something or see a situation and suddenly you realize that you have seen/heard exact same thing before.
Then in the same milisecond you realize you just met this person or no way have you been in this situation before so WTF is it? Have I seen this in a dream? previous life?

And it's feels like I was hit by something, I'll get a sudden hot flash, every hair on my body is standing straight up and my heart feels like it wants to jump out of me.

Fucking weird feeling, freaks me out every time for a few minutes. Makes me start thinking about life, death and all the weird shit.

It's a glitch in the Matrix. It happens when they change something.

I can't remember any exact instances... But I remember having deja vu once, not the situation but I remember feeling quite stunned afterwards.

I can't remember any specifics either, but I do know the feeling. Happened to me a few times, once this year that I recall.

Yes, I have...

I have also known things I shouldn't have known that is also freaky...like have you ever been in class and the teacher asks a question and you know the answer even though it's incredibly obscure detail on a subject you know nothing about? And you don't even realize your hand is up and when he calls your name you splurt out the answer and it's right.....and then your like "holy shit, what just happened? How did I know that? Why was my hand up?"

Other freaky things are realistic dreams, ones you have a hard time deciphering from real life, I almost called my old college roomate this morrning to tell him I forgot to pay my bill at the restaurant if he could pay it before he leaves the table I'd pay him back....then I was like "wait a second"...I'm in bed...he lives 500 miles away...I couldn't have just eaten dinner with him 5 mins ago and forgot to pay.

When me and claritin were little we used to complete eachother sentences all the time....and my mom says we used to alternate words in sentences and it was disorienting. And to take it a step further, a couple times we knew when eachother got hurt, even though we were far apart. (we are identical twins btw).

I've also had what would classify as an out of body during a near death experience, and that was freaky also.

It occurs whe you're sleep deprived. It's not all that unusual

I've had that happen on about 3 occasions that I remember. Usually, I will have a dream about doing something or being in a place (sometimes a place I have never even seen before) ... I usually forget about the dream completely. Then at a random point in the future, I sometimes get a dejavu feeling about a place I am at from a dream I had earlier, which I then remember in amazing detail. It's pretty creepy!

I've had it happen many times, usually at the most mundane of times, like having the same conversation with someone in the same place and knowing what the person is going to say next or something. It's creepy.

I got the strangest case of it when I went to Poland to visit my inlaws. I have never been there, but I got this odd sense every now and then that I had been in the exact same situation, accompanied by just a strange sense of familiarity. It would come on so strong and suddenly, and often while I was there, it was bizarre! It is very hard to convey the feeling to words, but it drove me nuts!
So I told my wife about it, and it freaked her a little, for some members of her family get the same thing, as well as people who live there in the village. She then told me a little history of the place, and what happened there during WWII. Apparenty, and nazi death squad commited a mass-murder there in the village, and since then, strange occurances have happened all over town. After hearing that, I was totally freaked...in fact, I am freaked again right now relating the story!

Zygar your avatar scares me. Really.

I have it frequently. Perhaps once or twice a week on average. Mine are also at the most mundane momments, such as driving or talking on the phone. I remeber an interview with Marylin Manson of all poeple, where he said he has deja vu so often, it often feels like his life is scripted. I thought that was a considerably different way of looking at it, but it's still an interesting viewpoint. Anyway, I remembered that blurb because I definately think I experiance deja vu much more often than anyone else I know and always thought it was strange.

Seriously, I just had deja vu today on the phone while I was eating pizza and explaing Pirates of the Carribean to a friend without trying to give away the plot. Lasted about 3 seconds. Odd. The longest, continuous instance was probably close to 10-12 seconds. Think about it. That's a very long time when talking about deja vu. I really don't know what to think about it.

Happens to me all the time, ill just be sitting there, and telling myself what will come next. Kinda odd.

Granted i dont believe this, but theory has it like this: In The Big Bang theory, everything is expanding until it reaches a point, and then begins to retract. Life as we know it, may be going backwards to what it previously was. Deja Vu, is supposidly us re-living an experience we had before.

Kind way out there, but thats what i read. Sounds like a pile of dogshit to me, but oh well!

Heres the reason why,

1) Your life flashes before your eyes when your dieing.

2) Your dieing right now because of something, and your reliving your life because of the "flash"

3) You "think" you had already gone though the situation, when in fact you had,but your just reliving that moment because your life is flashing in front of your eyes.

So cheer up. Your dieing right now, and just reliving your life because its flashing before your eyes.

I've experienced the same thing Xou has quite a few times. I have a dream, only slightly remember it when I wake up, then completely forget. A few weeks later I relive what happened while I'm awake. It's kind of freaky sometimes.

It happens often for me...i'd say on average twice a week, sometimes more...not very often less.

And mine comes in the dream I can't quite remember form. Normally it's only 3 to 5 seconds worth of deja vu...sometimes up to about a half minute.

I hate dreaming that I woke up, got ready for school and then got home and finally being over with it and having the rest of the day to myself, but then I wake up and realize I gotta do it all over again.

Some say it is because of what Jung called the Collective Unconscious. Others claim that it is due to misfiring synapses in the brain that trick you into feeling that way. I like to believe that it has to do with everyone's innate psychic ability surfacing for a moment.

Sounds corny or something out of a bad sci fi but I think it is something that we all have but have never had a need to use so it is dormant within us.

The closest I have come to really experiencing it is when I play blackjack at the casino. Only problem is I can tell when the dealer is going to fuck me over. He has a 6 showing, the table double downs, he flips a 5 and a king to fuck us all. I could even call the card and the suit he was going to flip. It only happend on a few occasions but it lasted the whole time I was there (which wasn't all that long due to losing all my money).

I'm like fairweather too, but i get the dreams too. The most odd one was bout 4 years ago, there is this street near my mom's house,i was driving along and was this HUGE deja vu, like i knew that somehow it was more than just me being there before, like something was gonna happen. It was creepy as hell, cuz then like a week later i had a dream of my mom getting married, and moving, which is odd cuz at that time she wasn't interested in marriage AT ALL, just went through a divorce actually. So moving foward a bit to now, she's getting married in October, and on that street i was talking bout, the one i always get that feeling on,even now.But like i said i get them all the time, like i'll be sitting there watching something and know exactly what they're gonna say, when it's a new epoisde, like its all happened before, and just watching everyone do it all again.Way creepy, all my hair is on end just thinking bout it.

Not to change the subject but i think this house i partially haunted though too, wierd door stuff happens here OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS. I'll be sitting here and hear the doors open and close, and KNOW i'm the only one here. That's CREEPY!

I've had this happen to me many times in my younger years.

The 2 that stand out as most significant to me:

Dream - I heard a conversation going on between 2 people - no one I knew, and it was to themselves, not directed at me - I could see nothing, black room.

Reality - I had surgery when I was 12 years old. As I was waking up in recovery, I was still groggy enough that I didn't open my eyes, but I could hear the things around me. The bed adjacent to mine was having almost the identicle conversation that was in my dream. I saw nothing, because my eyes was closed.

2nd one - back when I was working in for Holiday Gas Station in Bloomington, MN, so I was about 19 or 20 when I had this dream:

Dream - I was working in a Holiday store like I belonged there, but the registers were different, the environment was different, it wasn't the same store that I normally work in. But one of the Managers that I worked with was there too.

Reality - about 6 months after having that dream, I hear that they are opening a store inside the Mall of America. I'm there helping out the first week they are openned. The layout of this new store was nothing like anyone has ever seen before, except I have - it was the store in my dream. The Manager of this store was the then, assistant Maganger that I worked with in my store.

I've had other cases where a similar conversation occured in a familiar place, but those 2 were the most odd-ball coincindences I've ever had.

I kept having reoccurring dreams last fall (for like a month, nearly every night) that my purse was stolen. Although in each dream the environment and situation would be different. Then one night the house I lived in was broken into, and my purse was one of the items taken. Haven't had the dream again since that night. That fucking creeped me out. =p

I get deja vu very rarely. Usually dream related (I dream something, forget about it, it happens later irl). I do get reoccuring dreams all of the time. Always have. A dream analyst would have a field day I'm sure.

Really this is kinda true, your life, though it seems long to you maybe, is nothing really, 80 years? Pfft. Anyway, when you do finally die, the stuff you are doing now are just memories so how do you know that really, at this moment, you are not really dying and just reliving these memories, and your entire life is happening all over in a split second that seems to last a lifetime?

Anyway, the thing that creeps me out is that, the universe cant last forever, nothing does, it has to end at some point...but then again how could the entire universe end? All matter and everything in it just cease to be, how could that happen?

Only thing I can see would be the whole big bang theory like was mentioned earlier, is that the universe is expanding and will eventually collapse back onto itself until everything is compressed into a space smaller than the period at the end of this sentence, then will explode back out again, repeating the process and everything happen again just as it did this time...something like this was mentioned in the movie K-Pax and I've always wondered about it myself.

Everytime I think about this kinda stuff it freaks me out a bit, just trying to grasp the concept of infinity, of something going on forever, never stopping. Just everything happening over and over and over for the rest of eternity.

Well ash, if you go by what the big bang theory is, than yes, it is a never ending cycle. You wouldnt percieve anything as "doing over again" it would just keep happening, the same way it began, and ended, over and over again.

That is why i cant possibly believe that this is accurate. The atoms and such had to come from SOMEWHERE.. they just cant appear.. i guess its a question on my mind. Thats why im satisfied with a religious view.

Then again, im sure we have some wanna-be scholars here that wouldnt mind explaining how the universe began from the scientific view

I would settle for a religious view if I could just find some religion that worked for me...but thus far I have only found that most organized religions are more about controlling people or money than they are about the actual religion itself. I went to like 4 different churches in my area, 3 of the 4 of the same denomination, and all of them had different ideas of if certain things were a sin or not, or how much cash you should give to the church (10% of your weekly income? hahahahahahahahahaha). I mean, what the fuck, they are ALL going off the SAME DAMN BOOK but all come up with different ideas about what it says...
