Help Prz!

So I got a new video card.. Radeon 9600 Pro. For some reason, when I entered EQ, the following would happen:

When using numlock to autorun, it disables my arrow keys somehow, so I can't turn, or stop autorun by hitting the down arrow keys (NOT the numberpad arrows - I'm talking about the plain arrows). However, it does work if I use the numberpad arrows.. I'm just not used to that.

I am unable to use shift+up/down arrow (to scroll through previously typed text) when I don't have the numlock on. BUT, when I turn on the numlock, the arrow keys suddenly act like I have shift held down, when I don't.

1. I am not an idiot - I downloaded the drivers for my new video card.

2. After a friend suggested that this might be because I didn't reformat my HD to install my new video card, I then reformatted and installed everything fresh. Nothing changed.

3. I did NOT remap any of my keys, nor have I changed ANY settings within the EQ game itself. I have checked to see that the settings are normal and they are.

4. A chat GM (which we all know are pretty much worthless) suggested that I delete my eqclient.ini file, which did absolutely nothing.

5. Another chat GM suggested that I /loadskin a different skin... which did nothing.

It seems to me that it is behaving as if I have shiftlock on, which I dont. Or, could it possibly be a setting with the new video card/ATI controls that numlock does something?

Please help, this is verah frustrating. :x

Did this just start today or when did you install your video card?

If it was just today, it may just be problems with the patch. Winnow and Drolgin were saying something about their keyboards screwing up after the patch.

Is your thong on too tight?

Drust, if it happened *today*, it's probably because of some of the key remapping they've done in the patch. It's pretty fucked up, we can only hope for a reasonable fix, and soon.

May I suggest the deletion of your "Fluffy Bunnies" character. That is probably causing much conflict with your new video card.

Or is "Fluffy Bunnies" Your guild? If so, suggest a new name...or /guildremove STAT!

It actually started last night. :(

You can't touch the Fluff.

Drust, I can't speak for EQ problems specifically, but it's my feeling that a conflict between your keyboard and your video card isn't very likely with a relatively current (last 1-2 years) computer, specifically not with one running XP, or 98. Additionally, if you were having such a problem, I would expect it to manifest itself in all applications, not just in EQ.

Drolgin's explanation is the most likely.

GL man.

I assume you're using DX9? Have you tried updating your keyboard's drivers?

1) try a different keyboard

2) set default in the options>keyboard in EQ

3) throw computer away and buy a new one

I get the shift +Up and pageup pagedown errors, but not the funky arrow problems. I never would have guessed it was my Radeon 8500...

Sounds like someone should have gotten the new GeForce instead!

Check to see if the new Video drivers have some kind of funky key mapping on them. ATI, as have others, has put "shortcut" features in their drivers before. It could be that you are keying in a shortcut sequence while playing. Just a thought, I agree though, should have gone Nvidia :) but that is just my opinion.
