im going to be in the market to buy a used laptop someitme soon

ive never had a good PC, my current PC(which was my eq pc) is something like an emachine 600mhz, 200ish ram, 16mb vid card and such

so im thinking of just switching to a laptop setup

im sure of oyu out there are good with this kind of shit, but basically id want to spend no more than 800bucks, and dont need shit like a dvd player, hell, dont even need a build in CD player, one that connects to it when needed would suffice

bascially id want something around or a bit better than my desktop setup, thats fairly small/light for easy travel

what are some brands/models that would be worht looking at?

or perhaps a webpage that has info like this would be good too

thanks,

Sorry. $800 is probably not going to do it. Your best bet at that price point is Ebay.

Good luck.

hot damn, that does look pretty nice

a bit on the big side, but def above par stat wise

is there anyone that made a smallish laptop with a docking station type setup?, id be mainly using it for school/fun/dicking around with on the go, then surfing/music shit at home

i have some old compaq now, but the keyboard went bum, i was mainly using it for running some basic audio software, and music notation shit
it had no built in cdrom, but a big flat docking station with more I/O shit and the cdrom

Dell makes smaller laptops as well. My company uses Dell for all internal PCs and Laptop (about 5000 people) and we have had great luck with all our different models. Check out the refurbished area as posted above, I bet you can find a good deal there and possibly a docking station as well. I've also seen Dell docking stations that would fit on Ebay too.

I'd look at:

Dell
Sony
Toshiba
IBM
HP
Compaq
Alienware

That's it.
