Im more of a mellow kind of guy - I enjoy jack johnson ,sublime, and O.A.R ( great band not many know about) I also enjoy reggae ( bob marley, toots and maytals) anybody have any other artists/bands with the same laid back kind of style?? Jack johnson and such is what me and my best friend chill out to when we sit in the porch and drink or whatever, just kick back and relax.

Other musical interests...

Sublime
O.A.R
Weezer

Modest Mouse

you'd love 311...try songs like uncalm, lifes not a race, leaving this babylon, light years, rub a dub...they have a lot of different styles of music, I think you'd like those songs fit into the kind of music you like most.

You would prolly be into some bands such as Moe. String Cheese incident, Raq and stuff like that, pretty much there own genre of music but its really laid back with like a bluegrass, ska, rock mix, that have some pretty good shit as "jam" bands

You can't beat a bit o dub reggae IMO.

Pick up pretty much anything by King Tubby, Augustus Pablo, Yabby U, Mad Professor, Lee Perry or Jah Shaka and you won't go far wrong. Something about massive bass, stoned drumming and sunshine just goes so well together.

i am with the 311!

its such a hybrid of different types of music..especially the newer stuff.

Best way i can describe the music is if a friendly alien mothership landing at the beach in hawaii at sunset came down and handed out joints to everyone and tons of naked hula girls everywhere sippin on pina colladas and every one unified with some hip hop flava mixed in!

Just saw them play last friday, man they have become a top notch live act. been a hardcore fan for years!

I have much <3 for G-Love and his special sauce!

Not quite in the same alley but some of the FLC stuff is mellow in the same style. Also, for older stuff, try picking up some of the later Steely Dan and Donald Fagen albums - Kamakiriad, The Nightfly and Gaucho comes to mind.

311 is excellent. =)

I'm listening to Wilco's 'Yankee Hotel Foxtrot' right now and it's very mellow stuff... liking it.

I went to a G. Love and 311 concert on Thursday, it was one of the best shows I've ever been to. Hadn't ever seen G. Love and it had been like 4 or 5 years since I'd seen 311.

G. Love put on an awesome show... it's pretty stripped down, no special effects and just himself, a guy on the stand up bass, and a drummer. He interacted with the crowd well, did some freestyling and played a hell of a set on guitar and harmonica.

311 was awesome as usual. I hadn't listened to their last couple albums much, thankfully they played a lot of stuff from their first 4 albums. It was high energy and they seemed to be having a lot of fun. They even paused the show for a minute and called out some guys name and gave him a couple minutes to propose to his girlfriend. We had like 7th row seats, and it was loud as hell. I don't think my hearing was 100% until yesterday, which was like 4 days after the show.

Great show, go see it if it comes to your area.

omfg...

ANYTHING 311.. is the BOMB <3<3<3<3<3 hehe

Nah but seriously, if you like Sublime and what not you'll love em. Went to 311.. day in New Orleans a year ago? Was the best time I ever had. They played about 75 straight songs (4 hours I think) and they took 1 fifteen minute break. Absolutely awesome in concert. Check em out ;p
