This is a pretty funny article on CNNs web site, about the strength of the Hulk in the current movie.
http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/ptech/06/1 ... index.html
I'm not even sure the Terminator is a good comparison but... since I haven't put up a poll in a while...

I want to know who the one moron is that thinks the terminator could defeat the Hulk. If he got squished by a press in terminator part one, what makes you think the Hulk can't just ball him up like tin foil like he did that M1 tank? Hulk's bio says he can lift over 100,000 tons, I don't see terminator lifting any battleships anytime soon. Next thing you know you'll be saying Mighty Mouse could beat Superman, let's think things through people!
Oh, Kyoukan beats hulk hands down. She hits him in the head with her CAPS lock key and it's a 3 count.

The fact that the terminator will roll into the fight with enough ammunition to fuel a small country. He wins.

The Terminator.. because you know he isn't going to make it an even fght.
Guns, bmobs, traps - it's a killing machine, literaly, and just because a single one couldn't kill a scrawny white chick in the 1980's, or a metalic shape shifting thing couldn't kill a scrawny white chick and her criminalistic son, it's because they had help from first a ugly white dude in the first movie then arnold in the second.
I'm not seeing the human race sending back another superwarrior to help keep the Hulk alive. =p

Hulk in Rd 1 especially against the Terminator.
Guns, bmobs, traps
All of which Teh Hulk will shrug off like gnat bites!
Who _could_ take the Hulk would be a good question. Supes, prolly, and a couple of supervillains, but not too many others I reckon.

Superman defeated the smart but weaker hulk (Hulk had banners intellect, but did not increase his strength in propertion to his anger as a drawback) in the DC vs Marvel crossover, and Juggernaut has gone toe to toe with hulk quite a few times, and I believe the win loss record between those two is 5 wins for hulk, 4 for juggs. Hulk and totally destroyed the Thing from the Fabulous 4 on every occasion they have fought, even killing him on one occasion, was not even close. Hulk even went back in time and destroyed Achilles from the Trojan war, the supposed invincible greek warrior. Hulk's regeneration rate is even faster than wolverines, in one of their matches, wolverine slashes hulks leg, and the leg healed around wolverines claws before he had time to rip it out, almost instant regeneration. Matter of fact, I think Adamantium is the only thing that has breached the hulks tough hide, which shrugs off 2000 degree temperatures with ease. One showdown with Thor ended when thor jumped on hulks back in a choke hold, took 3 days for hulk to pass out, so you can count thor as a win against hte hulk too.

I would think the winer of Hulk vs Term. would depend on if Stan Lee or Cameron was doing the movie.

Dr Manhatten would've taken the Hulk.

Ther are plenty of characters that can take the hulk (mind attacks, teleporting him away etc), but not when it comes to raw melee power, which is what the poll was based on.

Krimson illustrates a great point about comics--the powers and abilities of the heroes have varied widely over the years. But it's all in good fun, and that's the point! One of my favorite Hulk memories was the cover of one of the "Secret Wars" issues (maybe number 4?), showing the Hulk literally holding a mountain up, to keep it from crushing his allies.
Dr. Manhatten was the man. Watchmen rocked.

I always dug Crusher Creel, the Absorbing Man. He was a foe of Thor's back in the day, and could change his body into whatever material he came in contact with. I have the Hulk vs. Thor crossovers too, those were always fun fights. (If you can't tell, I'm a Thor fan)
In vaugely related news, I'm pretty excited about some news I heard last night. As I've mentioned to some of you, my cousin was the artist for a comic that no one had heard of, well we found out last night that he was hired to be the penciller for the Fantastic Four. I don't know when his first issue will be or anything, but I thought that was pretty cool.

That's awesome Sylvus.
LMK which issue, and I'll at least give it a look.

APOCALYPSE!
Known Superhuman Powers: Apocalypse is a mutant who possesses superhuman strength which he can augment by psionically drawing on outside energy sources. Apocalypse can alter the atomic structure of his body at will in order to change his form. He can even increase his size by taking on additional mass from a presumably extra-dimensional source. Through his ability to alter his form, Apocalypse can give himself virtually any superhuman physical power. Apocalypse's "costume" is actually part of his body, and he can psionically alter its appearance at will. He can levitate himself telekinetically.
Apocalypse has an extraordinarily long life span that has already lasted thousands of years. He can survive for weeks without food or water and can rapidly recover from injuries that would prove fatal to normal human beings. In the future, however, his physical form will eventually grow too aged and enfeebled to contain his vast superhuman energies. Hence, he will transfer his consciousness and powers into a succession of host bodies, abandoning each one when it too grows too old to contain his power.

You might want to catch up Krim

. Ive stopped reading comics a while ago. Untill I saw a few issues that story lined Thanos. The "change" from pre Gauntlet to now is huge.
But I agree 99.9% super heros/villans cant go toe to toe to the Hulk.

On a related note, didn't the Beyonder kick Galactus' ass?

The Beyonder heh.
Not really. Good ol Glat. was near death/starving when he was entered in to the Secret wars. He ate his world ship to have enough energy to attack him. Doing so, Doom set it up so when Glat attacked, doom stole all of the Beyonders powers.

Cool, I can barely remember that shit. Do you happen to remember what role Rachel Summers aka the Phoenix played in that?

Beyonder is the tump card. He was basically God. He was only defeated when he tried to make himself human, and they killed hm while he was still a baby.
The best match would be Beyonder vs. Thanos (with the Infinity Gauntlet)
This is going down as one of the nerdiest threads ever to hit VV... and that's saying a lot!

I haven't seen the geekdom progression chart in a while. Who ranks higher, the star trek nerds or the comic book nerds?
/edit: because it's good form to use a question mark at the end of a question.

Star trek, because every guy is born with the comic book gene inherant, you become a trekker or trekkie by choice.

lmao, bah! quote your sources!
PS: I think the relative geekiness of things should be judged on the ratio of fans who are prepared to venture out in public dressed as a character from said geek genre. A line I have yet to cross, I hasten to add.

Yea. I was cring in the shower at how much we seem like nerds. But thats fine, I got in to comics when i was 12ish till 17. I loved reading and they were cheep to buy:P Its like every 9 months or so, I decide to break in to them and re read them.I have over 500 saved. One of them is a Todd Mcfarlane sp? number 1 spiderman with a Plat. coated ink cover. Was worth around $800 7 years ago. no clue how much now.
Rachel Summers was the Beyonder's lover for a issue or 2. He ended up giving her half his powers. I think this was Secret wars 2 this took place. While having half of his powers she was able to break free, and help force his back down. They attacked him as a baby, and and the Molcule sp? Man is the one who kills him. Thus doing so, the Beyonder "apepars " back in his own space.
As for the Secret Wars 1. I had the 11 of the 12 issues. I didnt have the last one. In the 11th issue all the heros are sitting around the table and the beyonder destroys them all and ends. Dont know what happend in number 12.

I still have 4 long boxes and a short box full of comics. I collected them from age 10ish to 18. They got too expensive at that point.

Don't get me wrong, when talking about geekiness, I'm there too. I have a bunch of comics at home, including that same McFarlane Spiderman that you have. I collected them for a few years until I got into high school and needed to save my money for beer.

I used to collect comics and buy/sell/trade at conventions. I think at the last count before I sold my entire collection at once, I had 18 long boxes worth of books. Most were late 80's for the quick turn around cash wise. However, my big bucks books were the silver age Marvels. Sold many of those and regret it somewhat now. Those were truly the best books.

BUMP!!!!
After seing the Hulk movie, there is no way in hell any sane person would choose the Terminator as a winner in this poll. The Hulk was completely unstoppable. The bastard had to have been a good 10-12 feet tall and weigh close to 1000lbs of pure, green muscle.
No way. Terminator would be destroyed within 30 seconds of the fight starting.
That is all.

The Terminator is only powerful when he goes up against HUMANS, which is what he's designed to kill. Just about any Super Hero can make short work of a Terminator. I mean, they're just metal with a flesh surrounding, or they're liquid metal. Melt em, crush em, dilute them, whatever. Way too many ways to kill a Terminator. In fact, pretty much any method of killing that will work on a human will work on a Terminator. Will just take a little extra ammo.
