I am partial to 'Everyday Italian' now, as I love Italian dishes, especially Giada De Laurentiis!! I think I got the main shows...feel free to add...

'Best Of' kicks ass as well for the "I ATE THERE!!" factor.

Emeril comes off to me as a cocky asshole(Man can cook...don't get me wrong). Even though the commentators for Iron Chef are complete morons it's still the most entertaining food show I've ever seen. East Meets West is pretty nice also.

Yeah, I am kinda burnt on Emeril. He tends to play his 'pseudo stardom' a bit more than I like. Same with Mario, he is kinda a cocky bastard, but both those guys can cook!!

Too many good food shows out there. I do love the naked chef and two fat ladies. Food Finds is also good, as well as food nation. Emeril, mmm.

Iron chef is pure entertainment, God knows I've yet to see them prepare anything I would ever put in this mouth.

Anyone remember a PBS show Yen Can Cook? God I loved that guy, he got a bit annoying with his chop-chop-done routine though.

Iron Chef, but Good Eats is a close second. I love the information they give during the show and the entertainment value. I have a short attention span but that show keeps me glued.

While I like 30 minute meals, Rachel Ray can get on my nerves real quick. I enjoy her a lot more in $40 a day. Of course, her recipes... good stuff! She's just a bit whack.

Food network is just a damn fine channel these days, this was tough. Iron Chef is great and they're so damn good at what they do. Although w/ the actress judge referring to her mom's cooking back home each show, you'd think her mom was the best chef in Japan.

I learn more on 30 minute meal and Barefoot DeContessa then any other show w/ regards to useful cooking advice.

I went w/ Unwrapped though as how businesses make everyday snacks and the like is so damn interesting.

Iron Chef is great BECAUSE they're morons. That show is just so... Japanese.

I like $40 a day and 30 min meals, mostly because Rachel Ray reminds me of an old gf. I miss that lasagna...

There's this one retarded cooking show playing on City TV in Canada called Barely Cooking..

It's a cokoing show where the chefs are in the buff except for an apron. You have cameras at different angles that gives ass shots when they grab some stuff from the refrigerator and bubbles a la popup video that gives some dumbass word plays on what the hosts say.

Did I mention it was retarded.??

That show would go from retarded to genious with the addition of hot chicks

I cannot believe there are so many other Iron Chef fans out there. I just started watching it a few months ago, and am hooked. It is hysterical.. what I love the most is how the translaters put on these little accents for each chef, and you just have to love Michael jackson, er Chairman Kaga.

Oliver's Twist/Naked Chef (reruns)

followed by Hot of the Grill w/ Bobby Flay and Molto Mario

and Good Eats gets major bonus points on the educative front. I learn more in 30 minutes on that show than a week of Discovery Channel.

This thread has brought to my attention that a lot of us spend a lot of time watching the food network. I never realized it was that popular

East Meets West. Big crush on Ming Tsai.

I like a lot of those shows, but I have to go with Good Eats being my favorite. I really like the way Alton Brown lays everything out and explains the "science" behind a lot of cooking. I was a big fan of Iron Chef for awhile, but it got kind of old after awhile. I really enjoy the Naked Chef, but for some reason I don't really like Oliver's Twist. Anyway, Emeril when I first saw him on the Food Network quite a few years ago had a really good show. He's steadily gotten worse as his popularity has risen. His whole show has become some big Pavlonian experiment to see if the people will start drooling everytime he yells BAM.

before the time there was the food network, and the discovery daytime programming was just home improvement shit, i had a tight schedule worked out

from 11-2 id watch TLC, for worlds greatest chefs(think that was the name, had a jazzy main song, and the same female narrator throought), then 2-4 on discovery, then 4-5 back on TLC, id do this 5days a week, for months on end(at the time i was driving my ex to/from work, and didnt have a job, so this was all i did...)

at teh time i wasnt, but now am a vegitarian(was vegan for 4ish years or so), but for some reason still watching all cooking shows

i love foodnetwork, but i really cant stand their primetime shit
the best of KICKS my ass, 30minute meals is pretty boring(altho i like the host), unwrapped is a kick in the groin as well

Hahaha...that was me in college. In between classes and projects/study groups I'd go home and watch all the great cooking shows. Yan Can cook, Frugal Gourmet (his Lentil soup kicked ass), and that old Louisiana fella with the suspenders and colonel sander’s tie were the best. I also enjoyed my 4 different showings of World’s greatest chefs, etc. in between.

As for the new stuff, I’d have to agree on Iron Chef and Good Eats (that’s the one with the guy with glasses who makes cheese fries, correct?) being highly entertaining. For me, having a good hosts/commentator is usually better than how/what they cook. For example, I can’t stand Emeril, Malto Mario, or any person/show like that. I prefer the down home goodness of the two gravity challenged ladies or the goofy british guy who cooks for his mates.

Not to change the subject…do they show Yan can cook, Frugal Gourmet, or the hillbilly anymore? Or, did they all retire?

I can watch any of the cooking shows when I surf across them, my family usually gets something odd for dinner the next day . I don't watch it them intentionally though.

I've got a couple vegitarian/vegan cookbooks with some awesome recipes. I'll frequently drop what they used to add protein and add meat/fish though.

Graham Kerr - old school Galloping Gourmet from the early 70's. He did a few shows including a healthy cooking show in the early 90's on TDC or one of the similar networks (before there were 50 of 'em heh). I like watching GG when I'm up late enough to catch it.

I pretty much love all of these shows, even Bobby Flay's shows (I like Boy Meets Grill better than Hot Off the Grill) despite the fact that Bobby annoys the shit out of me. I voted for Tyler's Ultimate since I really like both of Tyler Florence's shows, but I like the concept of Ultimate better.

I had to go with Oliver's Twist though because he's just dreamy. Had Nigella Bites been on the poll she woulda won my vote hands down. I just recently bought her cook book "How to be a Domestic Goddess" and every recipe I've tried from it is amazing.
