My Norton Anti-Virus subsription has 30 days left on it, so I got a pop up warning telling me to renew. About an hour after I didn't renew, it told me that I had a backdoor.trojan virus disguised as c:\WINDOWS\system32\aupdate.exe Now it wont stop telling me to renew my subscription. Does it sound like I really have a virus (BTW I went through their process of removing the virus and couldn't remove it) or does it sound like they're trying to scare me into renewing my subscription?

Go update norton and try again to remove it. Sometimes if you havent up dated it in a while, it will not be able to remove some stuff. I happen to know first hand =).

Having the window pop up like that,makes it seem like that is a virus in itself.
