Ok, so I consider myself pretty computer literate, Ive built every computer Ive owned for like 8 years... and the time has come again for me to build a new one.

So, Im surfing all of the pricing sites and looking for deals... and I realized Im a bit behind since I left the computer industry 2 years ago.

Where is a good place to go to do the reasearch on the boards/cards/ram? Things I want to know are like differences between the GeForce chipsets currently on the market, whats the best preformer for the price? What kind of Ram should I be buying for a Athalon 2.5-3.0ghz?

Ive got cases and floppy drives and stuff, just looking for board/chip/video/ram atm... Any help is appreciated :)

Tom's Hardware is usually pretty good for this kind of stuff.

For a processor that speed you're looking at at least a 300w power supply.

Get DDR RAM...not only is it uber fast but gettin' cheaper too.

ATA133 or bust on the hard drive, unless you can afford to do RAID LOL

As for the vid cards, just check'em out. The stats differ with the price just stay away from the GeForce MX series or whatever that lousy excuse for a video card was...

Well, I picked up a 333mhz FSB MB with a Athalon XP 2500+, two sticks of PC2700 512MB DDR and a Radeon 9700. Gonna use my current HD and case, I think Im running a 400w power supply.

I should be pulling trains again in no time :)
