How Does the intrest in the bank work?

Is it 2% Daily,weekly,or Monthly.
Are our Deposits FDIC insured.
How about the ability to purchase large CD's with higher intrest and a early withdraw penelty.

most banks figure their interest rates yearly. so if your bank gives you a 2% rate on a CD or money market and you put $100 in, you'll have $102 at the end of the first year.
FDIC depends on the bank. There's not a single bank within 20 miles of me that doesn't have FDIC insurance though, and I'm sure the same goes for you. This guarantees your deposits (up to $150,000) are backed by the U.S. government.
CD's work the same as regular checking accounts as far as interest goes. They're lucrative because they have higher interest rates but of course the downside is you can't touch the money until it matures.
p.s. If you have extra money, the best way to invest it is through the Braxter Scholarship Fund.

Actually FDIC insurance which I believe banks are required to have now after the S&L crashes that occured many years ago has been raised to 200,000 per account.
