I know what you asked for, and this calendar year you're going to get a booth at Dragon Con.
This year's FF location is locked, stocked and all but done.
Atlanta will definitely be a consideration for next year. So, your best bet is to come to Chicago, go to Dragon Con or wait and see what happens next year.

Straight off the fourth page of the Atlanta thread in the FanFaire Forums folks (yay for alliteration).

I'll be moving up to Atlanta this fall, and it's an amazing city. Almost everything is in downtown and nearly always some kind of show/event going on (can't forget the cheetah either

)

Another Vegas FF would be nice. All you need to do is rotate hotels. Make the next one on the Strip somewhere.
I suppose when all is said and done, you just need a good bar and or place to go after the official FF is done for the day so the real entertainment can begin...ok you just need alcohol.
See how happy Fan Faire people are when they have a beer to drink!

I can say a few things definitively here.
1. Chicago will have the Next Fan Faire.
2. Vegas will most likely be our permanent west coast spot from now on. Why have one in LA when you can do Vegas?
3. If I have my way we will never have one in Cleveland. Ever. I spent a week there on the EQ Tour. That place is e v i l. Nuff said. I was also born in Ohio so you can't fool me. I escaped and you'll never bring me back, coppers!
4. Atlanta is being considered for next years east coast swing.
5. Who would be down for an Unofficial Fan Faire trip to Wrigley? I've been a cubbies fan since I was 10. I went to Wrigley and saw a day game last summer. It was a sublime experience. AND they happen to be playing the Pirates at home the weekend we're probably going to have FF.
6. I rule.
That is all.

PS The EQ Invasion Tour taught me a lot about cities.
Cities I learned to hate: Richmond, VA, Cleveland, Seattle, Philly
Cities I learned to love: NYC, Chicago, Vegas, Hood River, OR., Minneapolis, and Portland, Maine (Maine owns)

Anyone else feel like Veeshan is cornering where FF will be, since Vannoth visits the boards here? (Not saying it's a bad thing

) L.A. would be cool but didn't they just have one in S.F. and S.D.?

Not necessarily - the Atlanta FF campaigners have been harassing Vannoth forEVER. Vile people, like Murr!
YAY FOR MORE VEGAS!

I'll put in my vote for Ottawa or Toronto. There are more than enough players on this side of the border to constitute an FF up here ^^

I expect a 5% cut of the profits from Chicago FF for providing you with this most excellent of ideas!
Edit: For those curious, that weekend (the one where Cubs are playing Pir8's (arrr)) is the 26-28th. Make your plans now!

Hick city? But Indianapolis hosts the Indy... five... hund...
Okay, perhaps you're right!
I think you should host one in Detroit. It's the Vegas of the Midwest, and so close to Canada that all the Canadians should be happy. All you have to do is try to avoid getting murdered and it's a fun city!

Arilain wrote:New Orleans > Atlanta
new orleans is fun, but it is also a shithole, i lived there for a little while and loved it, but the city is run like a 3rd world country.
it is a fun place to go for meetings, but Miami Beach is way way better. I would say Miami Beach >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> New Orleans
it is well maintained, has better hotel accomodations, has a better airport (NoLa airport is a piece of shit), and just as good of restaurants, and better nightlife, even if you arent into the trendy clubs etc.
Atlanta has great hotels and restaurants too. And as lame as the public transit is in Atlanta, if you stay in Midtown or Buckhead, you don't need a car, unlike Miami Beach or New Orleans.
