Copied from the website for the county I live in with information on getting a marriage license.
DISABILITIES
No license will be issued if either applicant is a habitual drunkard, imbecile or insane, or is under the influence of intoxicating liquor or narcotic drug, or is infected with syphilis that is communicable, or likely to become so.
And here I was planning to pick up some syphilis this weekend.

Wierd... So they are saying if you ever contract Syphilis some time in the future or become a drunkard that your marriage license or potential marrige license will not be granted? So what are the chances of that happening, how can they tell?

I don't know if that would stand up in a court of law, but who knows. Out of curiousity what state is this from? While I may agree with the whole not letting stupid people get married
, I'm sure they meant imbecile in a more literal or medical manner.

Most assuredly Crav,
The time of the spirit of the law being obeyed and not the letter of the law being obeyed is long over. The language that lawmakers use is much more exact now for this reason alone.
I'm also of the opionion they got tired of dealing with anullments with the reason being, I was drunk and she talked me into it at the drive thru.

I like how they basically stated if you are an imbecile, do not bother.
Nice to know someone is making an effort to control SBG disease.
