Fox can go fuck itself
I feel ashamed and depressed having watched the finale of Married by America, well last hour at least. WTF they did a 2 hour episode from it?
As much as that blond girl was annoying in the teasers of the show, she did not deserve the humiliation last night.
And their next show is... oh goodie, girl picks a guy (husband?) out of a bunch of guys dressed in mask from Hannibal 2
No thank you

These reality shows are really getting out of hand. Fox is employing Monica Lewinski(sp?) to host that show Ennia is talking about. The least they could do is hire someone that has some kind of appeal to someone other then Clinton.

Everybody lost.
That new show coming out with Monica Lewinsky hosting looks even worse. And apparently in between she is going to give dating advice. I am going to speak up now and say that dating advice from Monica Lewinsky would resemble getting a motivational speech about tolerance by Adolf Hitler.
MONICA LEWINSKY DATING ADVICE:
1. Always keep a pair of kneepads handy.
2. If you are giving head to somebody wealthy or poltically important, make sure he spunks on your dress. Don't clean it and keep it on your closet in a dry cleaner bag so you can cash in on it later like some bizzare prostitute in reverse.
3. $450 worth of cosmetics on your face does a wonderful job of hiding how grossly overweight you are.
4. Once you suck presidential cock, everyone else will want you suck their cock too, because they want to say that they shoved their dick into the same mouth that Clinton shoved his into. Instant long-term and meaningful relationships!

The 'Reality TV' phenomenon is simply the Peter Principle as applied to television.

What appeal? She's just gotta have a purdy haircut. You will only be starting at the back of her head anyways.

They're still better than watching another stupid, unfunny, sitcom like Friends or forced drama like ER or CSI Miami.
"Ohh here, Married With Children was such a big success, why don't we come out with our OWN edgy sitcom, you you, the wife thinks his husband is fat, the kids are sluts or potheads, the husband hasa shitty job but he goes there to avoid his annoying wife. IT'LL BE TEH BEST!"

/agree. I'm not a tv fan, but got involved in it when four couples were left.
I saw the finale, and I've got to say, it was very suspicious, like I wouldnt be surprised if Tony was coached to hold out that long. Watching Billy Jean get her heart cut out... I dunno, if you've ever felt anything like that yourself, it turned your stomach. That isnt entertaining, and I regret wasting my time.

Reality Shows are a clear sign that civilization is in decline and the end is nigh!!!!!
They're all a waste of fucking life anyway. If I want to know what the public are doing I'll step outside and have a look!

I've totally lost interest in reality shows beyond American Idol. I'd watch Big Brother if it came back again, but everything else has lost its appeal.

That's the sad part of the whole reality TV genre
You would hope it's not scripted, these are real people not actors, they're just gathered together in a certain setting and with a certain goal and left to interact with each other.
Yeah that's my dream Reality TV lol
All the producers need to do, is turn cameras on and make sure nobody gets hurt. Or is "hurt" good in some cases?
This seems to be a bit negotiable. It depends. Seems like producers care that nobody gets physicaly hurt or killed so there's no grounds for lawsuits. But emotional and mental discomfort may be good. For ratings. I can hear chants "Jerry Jerry Jerry" in my head now.
Having watched Reality TV for 3 years now, starting with Survivor, I have to admit I'm getting sick of it. I'm beginning to be disgusted in myself.
Editing kills the "reality" part in Reality TV. What I thought were real life unscripted, unbiased events turns out almost like a sitcom. With carefully selected cast, pretty detailed scenarios, leaving some room for unexpected but not much really, thanks to clever editing.
Anything not in favor of producers' "vision" can be flat out cut out or edited so we the viewers see the picture that producers wants us to see anyway. Editing has the power to make some moments more dramatic or funny. Some people more bitchy or boring.
Whatever will help lure in the audience. I swear one day if I hear laughter or applause in the background I won't even notice and start laughing and clapping along.
Like a puppet, and that's a scary thought.
edit: grammar>me so I'll just leave all like it is

I couldnt disagree more. There are many sitcoms and dramas that suck - no doubt, but at least the producers of this form of entertainment do on occassion create quality shows like a 'Scrubs' or a 'Law and Order'. Reality TV is as close to reality as plywood is to real wood: they both look the part, at first glance, but underneath it's phony and manufactured. You hate stupid, unfunny sitcoms and forced dramas, well I hate to tell you this but that is exactly what reality TV is, except with amateur actors playing the roles.
But then again, I don't think pro wrestling is a real sport either, so what do I know ...

I'd watch "Survivor" if they actually had to, you know, SURVIVE on their own. Just putting a bunch of idiots together and making them jump thought stupid hoops is not entertaining. I wanna see them running from lions and shit, not voting to see who leaves this week.

I can't believe they didn't marry for the money. Rather stupid of them IMO. I bet the Playboy chick will be posing again real soon, for quite the large sum of money I might add.
Whenever I see the "reality" tagline, I assume it refers only to the emotions and character conflicts. The producers cast and produce the show in such a way as to promote situations that will foster genuine, human reactions/conflicts. That is the only reality portion of the show.
Yes, I'm getting sick of them too. However, I give kudos to Fox for being the most creative, sinking the lowest, and simply being the most entertaining of all the networks.

Its not all bad, just the purely commercial stuff in the states is bad.
There was a good reality show on public TV put out by BBC, cant remember the name, but it was a study of stone age life. They built a replica of a stone age village, and set people in it, complete with kids and a dog.
And assigned them tasks to complete in a certain amount of time, kill the chickens and goats, collect food, bake bread, haul water from a stream, elect a leader, wear stone age type simple clothes.
It was pretty fascinating, several of the people got sick right away from the food, very very ill, requiring an ambulance (yes a real one, but when your that ill, you make exceptions). The children got ill right away, being more fragile but recovered faster.
They had primative pit toilet and no toilet paper, and yes someone used nettles on accident, ><
The conditions were so bad, and some of the people so stressed they had to bring in a coordinator, and sort of break the rules to even continue the experience. It came on at 2-3am so I missed most of the episodes.
It really makes you grateful for modern medicine and conveniences. When we get a headache we take aspirin, when we get cold we turn up the heat, when we throw out stuff someone takes it to the dump, toilet paper comes in bulk packages, and the fridge handily keeps the maggots off your unspoiled meat.

why would that piss you off? Not that I even agree with you that reality tv makes marriage a joke, but if you feel that way, why are you so wrapped up in it? Step away...

No. Dr. Laura would have blamed all men.
Not the Dr Laura I listened to...She's pretty conservative anti-feminist, like a female Rush Limbaugh (but in a proper female career *nod*). Never heard her pull the man-hater thing, but its been years since I listened to her. She would blame all people living outside of wedlock. It doesn't matter what you call in for, if she finds out you're "living in sin" she'll tell you that is why you have a problem.

I used to be stuck listening to her years ago at a job I worked at, and I noticed that she always seemed to blame the husband pretty much across the board in every call she got about martial issues... even if it was the husband calling with legitimate problems about his wife. Just about any time a man would call in about anything she was about as helpful as a bag full of meat thermometers.
Although we can probably at least agree that we'd love to wrap our hands around that chicken wattle she calls a neck and throttle some fucking logic into her.

ok, yeah, I guess I can see how that would happen with her.
Her vision of the family is so Victorian (*cough*Republican*cough*) that I can see the skewed path her mind takes when a problem arises. The husband is the decision-maker of the family, so therefore if anything is wrong it's his fault.
My ex & I would listen to her for entertainment. That was back when stupid people still held a modicum of amusement for me. The day her nudie pics surfaced was a sweet day of karmic bliss.
