It's called a tease - knowing people will be coming back wondering if any new content has been added yet to the teaser.

Brilliant strategy if you asked me.

didn't look at it that way :(
first thing that came to my mind was are they changing character graphics again? and will I have to upgrade my machines again to play that?

Heh. Looks like VI is stealing straight from Blizzard's WoW with the character styling.

Hardcore. The majority of Blizard ideas are basic Warhammer and 40k.

Lifted this from shadowknight.org... some people are too smart/have too much time to figure this stuff out...
Guys,

Take a very close look at the source folders.

First Image: images/esbhsppn/iksarzoom1.jpg

Second Image: images/itjmfbc/groupzoom2.jpg

Now look at the folder names.

esbhsppn
itjmfbc

Subtract 1 letter from the alphabet of each folder.

Example, a = z, b = a, c = b, d = c, and so on...

With this formula, the first folder; esbhsppn makes Moorgard backwards.

itjmfbc spells Baelish backwards.

Want more?

Well here is a new URL recently discovered.

http://everquest.station.sony.com/images/nbabilbmmb/

nbabilbmmb spelled backwards using the same spelling formula makes AllakHazam.

I would also like to add that SOE needs to fucking fire their texture artists now. With the kind of money they are raking in those textures are unbelievably ugly. Everquest shares the ugly texture syndrome too.

Planetside and SWG seem to have decent texture artists though, but I think a lot of members from both teams are veterans from other game developers.

But man, those textures are just ugly. That ground looks like a bad quake 1 total conversion map. The skins on the models aren't that much better.

I dunno. I kinda like that style. I agree on the ground texture. It's looking a bit pixellated however the rest just look fine.

Hate to break it to you, but the Polygon count and complexity of the graphics has not a damn thing to do with lag. All of that is done client side, and is completely dependent upon the system speed, and video card.

Lag is caused by the amount of network data being transferred to and from the client, and exceeding the maximum bandwidth available.

The only reason you perceive there to be 'lag' on a large EQ raid is because EQ has the most poorly written graphics engine on the market today. It's a hack, written on top of a hack that was designed by a startup gaming company who were doing the best they could. While I don't think it looks horrible, it performs horribly with more than X number of people on the screen at one time. This is entirely due to the shitty engine.

In Planetside, and another game I am beta testing that will remain nameless, I can be looking at over 30 people moving around in front of me, AND Aircraft, AND Vehicles, AND Turrets, AND explosions, AND tracer animation, AND sky, weather, water animations with no noticable degradation in frames per second.

video lag

Please read my posts thx.

I didn't mention anything about bandwidth issues and whatnot.

And with a Athlon 1800 and 512 BM ram and a GeForce2 GTS I get plenty of that lag in planetside anytime where's a number of objects on the screen at a time.

*edit* Spelling

Well, yeah. Not really surprised by that. If you had a GeForce3, I imagine it would perform significantly better.

My desktop is currently a P4 2.0Ghz w/1GB DDR RAM and a Geforce4 Ti 4700.

My next upgrade is going to likely be the processor to the P4 3.0Ghz. The bad part about that is that I'll need to replace the motherboard and memory at the same time, so I've been holding off on the upgrade.

I've made several. Here's another: I can also read and understand conversational dialogue without the need for an explanation of said dialogue after every post. See if you can get one of your fellow soldiers, preferably one of the ones who scored above the 60th percentile in reading on the ASVAB to help you with comprehension.

Your use of profanity in the last post made the dialogue seem much more urgent and important. Thanks for the emphasis.

Sadly it'll be a long while before I can free up the funds for a ssytem of that caliber. Car bought now, wedding in August and going to try to move into a house(or a bigger place) in the fall.
