Laptops

I'm gonna be buying a laptop in the near future for college use (and gaming of course). If anyone could recommend a brand or a type of model that would be sufficient for gaming and playing movies, it would help me out a bunch.

I just recently purchased an Alienware Area-51M.
It's a 2.4Ghz P4/533Mhz bus, 512MB DDR, 40GB harddrive, ATI Radeon 9800 w/64MB DDR.
I priced quite a few laptops prior to purchase, and I was unable to find any laptop that could match the performance of the 51M, though you can spend just as much money. Mine came in just under $2500 w/o shipping.
I've been completely happy with the product/service, and I cannot recommend Alienware enough.
I have no problems whatsoever playing EQ (1600x1200 w/ everything turned on), Planetside, RtCW (1600x1200 w/everything turned on), UT2003 (avg. 37fps @ 1280x1024 w/ everything turned on), Splinter Cell, Freelancer (1600x1200 w/ everything turned on).
My configuration is fairly tame compared to what they have available. You can customize just about everything including the color of the laptop (though conspiracy blue is clearly the best color).
The only two potential drawbacks to the 51M are weight (right around 10lbs.) and battery life (1hr 15mins.)

Does it come with a mouse shaped like the Enterprise?

It does come with a mouse pad that has the Alienware Logo on it, but I opted to get a color coordinated Optical Mouse, so I really don't use the mouse pad.

Why can't you recommend Alienware? I have a friend who's about to get a new system and thinking of going that route...

I used to have to maniuplate some (relatively big) Excel spreadsheets for reporting at my company on a 486 with windows 95. It literally took at least 45 minutes to open the file. Better go with a P1 at least!!

A friend of mine can get me a discount on any Dell laptop I choose. Any good recomendation on a good gaming Dell laptop? Have about $2,500 to blow. Any comments about laptops would be nice =)
