Attention: Chicago Residents

Anyone here live in the Chicago area? I am in the works of planning the Veeshan party for the Chicago Fan Fair and I need some help tracking down some local information.

I need info on finding the following:

- Kegs of beer and tap equipment etc
- Good deals on a decent quantity of liquor
- Reasonable catering services

Essentially, I am going to put down $1,500 on the event. I'm in the process of brainstorming for fund raising ideas to not only benefit this party, but also Veeshan Vault's hosting charges. Will probably be renting out a conference room or a suite in Chicago for Friday night so that it doesn't interfere with the Thursday night pre-party nor the Saturday night official EQ party. Keg's will probably be $5.00 for a bottomless cup and will end up paying for themselves. I also need to track down the services of a bartender who is willing to serve up drinks during the party and keep an eye on the donation jar. Part of the donations from that night will go to the bartender, another portion to Veeshan Vault and then the rest to any other expenses we might accumulate. When it's all said and done, this is going to be one hell of a server party.

More to come...

Check your local liquor store on info about kegs. They will usually supply the hoses and taps for them as well for a small fee. You may also want to see if you can buy your liquor in cases of bottles, instead of singles. That may save you some money.

Uh, how the hell are the cups supposed to hold beer if they have no bottoms?

I don't live in Chicago sadly. :( In Portland it's about $75.00 a keg for domestic, $85.00 a keg for micro. The tap rentals are about $15.00 each. I'm looking for numbers, websites, whatever form of information I can about this same type of thing in Chicago if peeps have that information. Work has a lame ass content proxy so google searching from here is challenging.

A small idea for fundage....kinda on the shady side with regards to our buddies at SOE.

Have folks that plan on attending drop some plat on a common banker and sell it on player auctions to defray some costs. We could all go through our banks to sell all that junk off and drop plat towards a good partay. Even though I don't play much anymore, I am still looking forward to Chicago.

And if anyone knows or talks to some old school folks like Grimme, Sorn, Magnified, Saiyangoku, Janaki or any of the other crazy bastards that went to Chicago and Minnesota last year, let them know that they need to come up for one last one!

i now live 15 miles or so from Wisconsin. UGH! :p I wish I were back closer to the city, but it's nice and peaceful up here, and the price on the house was incredible... it's sad that I live closer to wisconsin than where I work.

I'm looking forward to this coming FF in Chicago :)

Yeah, Chicago is only like 3 hours drive for me, so I'll be there for sure if one of two things are true:

A) Some of the people from Vegas will be there

or

B) The rest of you are half as cool as everyone in Vegas was

:D

I am going to try and locate the pictures of the carnage that was enacted at the last fan faire from the midwest. If only there had been a larger room.....

Maybe Valryte or Pilsburry can host them and throw a link up?

Hopefully the cosmos will fall perfectly in place and I can attend this one. Doubtful though.

Seattle was me, Bakara and Lala's little event. Turned out to be a lot more people then we expected, that was for sure. San Francisco was a bit more pre-meditated. It was definitely fun, you knew that if you couldn't find someone from veeshan that it was a VERY good chance they were in my room. This time is going to be a bit different, though. As much fun as I had in SF, it was a bit of a pain in the ass to not be able to pass out when I felt like it, so this time I will have a seperate room thats for me and whoever is staying with me. (There was times I was ready for bed at like 3am, but I didn't have the heart to tell anyone to leave, so I would come back at like 5am and there would be more people there and even drunker folks, so I ended up having to blow the party horn and shut down the show each night at around 6am.) To top it off, I then generally spent the first hour of my severe hangover the next morning cleaning up the room. I didn't mind though, trust me, I was in a frat in college and it was MUCH worse.

This party is going to be a single event on Friday night. It's going to be a one nighter deal in a specialized room as soon as Tom starts giving out names I will be in touch with the hotel folks etc. Lots of fun to be had, lots of shit to plan, but more importantly, there is going to be a large area for all of us to hang and drink a, uhm, substantial amount of booze. It's going to be a lot of fun. I will start posting more details soon, but we are going to have some shit there that will return rewards in and out of game, etc.

Keep the information and ideas rolling folks. I am taking the initiative to get this rolling, but please add any ideas as we go. This is everyones party afterall. I've made contact with numerous vendors and will be putting up polls on liquor, music, drinks and beer over the next few weeks. I've gotten some PM's about catering as well, it's a great idea, but since the appetizer dinner deal is always on that Friday night, I figured no one would be hungry anyways.

Those of you who are bartenders/mixtologists etc, here is the deal.
- Depending on how long we decide to host this, we will probably need on or maybe two people to split up the time.
- There is going to be a contribution jar on the counter/table where the bartender will be. This jar is for tips and donation contributions for the party as well as the bartenders. Part of the bartenders job will be to guard this jar as well. At the end of the night, myself and the bartender will head up to my room and count out the cash together. A % will go to the party, another to Veeshan Vault hosting fund and a nice % cut to the bartender. The bar portion itself I don't want to keep open an insane amount of time, because I don't want this to seem like a lot of work for whoever is attending the bar. I want them to be able to break away and mingle and drink as well. Having a spot behind the bar will definitely help you meet just about everyone as well. To show how much I appreciate someone volunteering to do this, I will put a minimum gratuity down in case the contribution jar doesn't do so hot.

So if you are interested in this and will be at the Chicago FF, let me know via PM or email devante@fohguild.org and we will get rolling on this.

Basically now we are just waiting for Tom to provide us with hotel names, I don't even need anything but the rumored date right now. So Tom, hook us up man, HOTEL INFO PLZ! :) I need to get on the phone and start arranging all this with them asap.

EDIT: And yes, all of the drinks will be free and will be served until we run outta booze. The only charge at this event at all will be $5.00 for a bottomless cup on the kegs. Anything outside of that is purely donations.

Valryte had the photo's Kilmoll, I'll host them if you send them to me....

I don't think Valryte made the Chicago leg tho...or if he did he did it the day before we blew through town.

I still remember that stripper at the admiral making me put on her cop uniform hehe. And then she came back with her friend and I got the double action, was a fun night.

Hey Kilmoll if you go up do you want to car pool or share a room? I won't be going all out like I did for the minnesota fan faire at all this time, last year was not very kind to me so my disposable income is not as large, plus I fund too many parties at my condo...speaking of which I had one last night heh. I might stay up for a few extra days so maybe share a room for a couple days and then you go home and I go visit some friends in town, my 2 best friends from college live in chicago my old roomates...a fireman and a cop. Plus maybe another half dozen or so friends live there...

I'll only go if we got a fair share of old school peeps going...and maybe I can drag Kylere, Claritin, Scrimps, Scrimpy, Zergs or some other peeps up with me again. If that's the case I'll have to get my own room.

If you want me to host the pics do you still have the log-in info for my FTP? I leave for Tampa in like 3 hours and I'll be gone for a week.

Finding booze won't be a problem, just find a yellow pages when you reach chicago. As far as catering. I would suggest this place. http://www.pompeirestaurants.com/Catering/index.php

The food is excellent and they have unique stuff you wont find anywhere else. Why order beef and chicken when you can have something you cant have anywhere else.

It depends on the beer, but you can get kegs for $35.00 - $40.00 if you want the cheap stuff/ We used to buy in bulk for fraternity parties and get deals from the local liquor store as well. . .we were always buying Keystone and Nati Light thought so I dont know what you want to do. Coors, Bud Light etc. will run more like $50.00 for a keg maybe $55.00.
