LOGGING IN PROBLEMS

K having issues getting into EQ thought maybe I could get some help from you guys.
DirectX 9.0
All updated drivers for video and sound
Windows ME (don't laugh)
Minimum Requiements are met.
Now this is how it goes...Select Veeshan sever...hit Enter World. It changes screens and does the loading screen, and when it is supposed to load in the Character select screen, it says, "You have been disconnected". just like when you go LD. Now i've even gone as far as reformatting my hard drive (it needed it anyways) and still no results.
I have original EQ on one disc, Kunark on another, Velious on another, and Luclin on another. No trilogies or anything. Things I notice from the patcher is that it updated lpatch.exe every time I patch and if I do a thorough it has eqgame.exe and lpatch.exe (sometimes on lpatch).
If you have any solutions or could point me to where I can find them...greatly appreciated.

Lotta people are still avoiding DX9 for issues like this. Just a thought.

Well, you said don't laugh so I won't... but I would HIGHLY suggest changing back to Win98 or moving ahead to Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Windows ME had to be one of the crappiest releases of an OS I have experienced. Most of the others people I have talked to who use(d) Windows ME gave me horror stories.
I installed Windows ME a good while ago. I reformatted my HD and installed Windows 2000 a day later.
I'm using DirectX 9 with Windows XP Pro and don't have any problems at all.

My laptop has ME on it, and was doing a similar crash on the server load screen. I changed VideoBitsPerPixel from 32 to 16, and the problem went away (in the eqclient.ini file).
Worth a try.

I haven't had any problems with ME myself, running 2 computers just fine with it.
I'll get disconnected constantly if I don't have compression turned on in the options screen. That's only on my 2 machines with with NVidia cards.

I have Win2k on my other computer.... Once I got all build and installed all of my programs, I found that I had these exact same symptoms, though perhaps not the same problem. My Win98 box logged in just fine...
For me, it turns out that Norton Internet Security was running in the background and was preventing me from logging on.
I tried to disable Norton to no avail...
I uninstalled Norton, and installed Zone Alarm and now everything is just fine.
I hope this is your problem, because it sure was an easy fix...

But i'm not running anything in the backround...no virus detectors or anything. Damn it!
