If you aren't with us Kyo...
anyway, in the last 2 years, the U.S. has pretty much blown away every negative stereotype that we have around the world and replaced them with much more obnoxious ones.

I dunno I think you see the occasional fat sweaty american woman on a crowded bus in Paris talking about the Loovree and the Ark Dee Triumphant.
That's a weird double standard though, that north americans are expected to remember the correct pronounciation of everything french or we look like barbarians, but the fucking french can't even pronounce entire letters of the alphapet properly.
The fucking french...

Why aren't Americans doing the same with German beer, Russian vodka and chinese food?
Poking fun at the French is incredibly unfunny.
Think of the best joke you can tell about the French and rest assured it's already been told by an american or british comedian a hundred times in the past 20 years.
It's as funny as making fun of Searyx...

I like how France is saying they are going to veto any resolution regardless of the wording that the US/UK would put on the table Friday.
they will be doing the US a favor.
The US/UK will probably get 9 votes on Friday (enough to pass)
France will veto.
Bush will address the US on Television Friday night.
The bombs start dropping on Monday, and half the country won't notice cause we are sucking down Guiness.
and if thes bastards try to get me into work on St. Patty's Day, i'll be pissed. Well i'll be pissed in more ways than one.

Heh, I am a Chef by trade (or head kitchen asshole if you prefer). Frenching is a term for a kind of cut, has NOTHING to do with where it came from. I heard the Story and these words popped in my head, pathetic, absurd, childish, FUCKING WEAK, it reminded me of an 8 year old whose freind didn't go along with what he said. Once again the rest of the world see's how dumb our politicians are... but hey, it's not like our politicians represent the people in their constituancies and therefor we ALL look like idiots.... wait....

I suspect China and Germany will veto as well.... Tony Blair is facing massive opposition in England and I won't be surprised if he backs down when the US doesn't get the votes.

CNNI reported about 20 mins ago there may not be a vote at all.
the situation is fluid so no real way to know.
but if you see Wolf Blizter standing in Kuwait and not DC, and you happen to live in Iraq, it is time to put the hard hat on.
all i know is it is bound to happen when i am on call, the rest of the factors have no bearing what so ever

My suspicion is molly-over-the-windmill around Wednesday.
Iraq is supposedly submitting it's VX declaration tomorrow and it's Anthrax declaration Monday or Tuesday.
I suspect Bush will wait until those are out. At least I hope he does. Then the dumbasses here who keep screaming "BUT THERE IS NO PROOF!" can finally STFU.

OK quick lesson for those that don't know. 1 Veto from a permanent member of the security council (US, UK, China, Russia, France) is enough to block any resolution. 3 are going to veto... there isn't even a majority in the "veto power" members. Pakistan is abstaining, germany and Syria are no's, there are 6 that are not sure how they will vote, and we need all 6 to get the 9, not that it matters, 3 with veto power say no, there will be no resolution, end of story.

Yeah, right after you admit that the combination of inspectors and diplomacy has produced the exact results they set out to achieve, rendering the use of force obsolete.

The point was the US isn't going to wait for a resolution, friend.
Voro,
I expect the Anthrax and VX documents to be watered down and just barely inside the line of technical compliance like everything else Hussein has been forced to.
I also expect them to finally end the whining about whether or not biologicals exist in that country.

Our current course of action puts a certain amount of stress on various relationships we have around the world. In the end these may take lots of time and effort to repair.
what is so pressing about this situation that we must put so much in jeopardy for a threat that is so small?
from my perspective, to use a simplistic analogy, if you put it on a scale, i see this as the US having much more to lose than they have to gain.
that is the root of my reservation, and again, as all of us here (except sirton who knows people so high that we will never see them) I am not an expert on these matters

Ok, I admit that Saddam is only complying due to having 200,000 troops parked outside his borders. I have never disagreed that our troops haven't had OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS to do with his compliance. We can agree that threat alone is serving it's intended purpose, so why actully go to war?

well you cant leave that troop deployment there, especially since the UN wont at least help to maintain it, even though it facilitates exactly what the US' opponents want to happen.
The genie is out of the bottle in my opinion already, it is just a matter of the governments' finding an acceptable PR route to the bomb bay doors switch. So in that respect in my opinion, our conversations are purely academic, but i think it is good to talk about anyway.
We should know why our government acts in certain ways, and if we arent comfortable with it, we make it known in 2004. On the contrary, for those who are, it gives them political momentum.
Pakistan is going to vote with US by the way CNNI just reported. Meaning the US only needs one of Mexico or Chile to get the magic number to 9.

That's about the size of it, unfortunately.
After 12 years of obfuscation, delay and outright lies to the world community at large, Saddam has to go. It's that simple.
If he accepts exile, I have no problem whatsoever jumping on the 'no war' bandwagon.

Just want to clear something up....
If Iraq proves that they have disarmed and provide documentation that the bio/chem agents (VX/Anthrax) have been destroyed... you still think that the US should invade Iraq without UN backing and assassinate Saddam?
this guy has proven he can not be trusted
Who?
The guy who said that the US only wanted to disarm Iraq then a few weeks later, when Iraq starts to show complaince makes an about face and says it's not just about disarming, it's about a regeime change?
After 12 years of obfuscation, delay and outright lies to the world community at large, Saddam has to go. It's that simple
So it's really not about disarming at all?
You might also say that Bush is obfuscating the truth of the situation by using the ruse of forced disarmament to hide his real motivation.
