Because it's not really a true debate of free flowing thought and explaination of one's position. But, rather a staged exhibition. All they seem to do is bring out a person's flaws. (ie; Bush's inability to speak intelligently and Gore's robotic demeanor.)

the fact he even got one vote running against clinton shows how politically relevent he was. clinton would beat jesus in the 2004 elections if they both ran.
