i'm not a big fan of the chain bar/grill type restaurants.
prefer a pub/bar where the employees don't wear "Flare"

Applebee's is a hang out? dude...must be an east coast thing! On the west coast, I think mostly grandparents go there.

winnow, i have never spoken to somebody who hangs out at Applebee's. please don't think it is something that happens with regularity on this side of the continent!

Actually.. My garage is a popular hang-out. On any given weekend you can find atleast 10 people in there....I don't allow smoking in my condo, but the garage is fine. I can heat it and it has a mini-fridge + seating for 12.
The parties aren't held there, that just where you go to smoke.
Reason I posted this vote was because I just got back from BW's for the 4th time in 3 days....and although I've been talking to some chicks there in the last 16 hours...1 hottie, 1 decent catch, and 1 throw back...I'm to the point where BW's is getting to me, but all my friends choose to go there, I've gone atleast 10 times in 14 days with different groups. Sure I went to O'charleys, and had a couple parties here...but 90% of going out is the same place every time.
Like when I went on Weds with Jay and Trey....it was a major sausage fest. Maybe 1 decent looking girl...well 2 if you count my brothers GF, but she is off-limits obviously.
Thurs. night was a hottie and a toss-back (Rachel and Deena).....the toss back asked me for my contact information, I gave it...she's cool and I think she is engaged so it's probably OK. The hottie I stole from some other dude kinda, I didn't realize I sat 2 seats over from her, but I already knew her....she will go to the shooting range with me in a week or so. And she said she almost came to last weeks party but another girl and her are fighting so she decided to not bring drama to my party =/. The hottie is 21 w/1 kid and single, the toss-back is 33 or so with 2 kids, I think engaged, might be a "friends" deal...I'm 28, no kids.
The decent catch was Friday at lunch, bartender (Cassie). Nice smile, seems kinda quiet but semi-interested. She talked more then most bartenders smiled OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS to me, stuck close by....she played it cool so she didn't look desperate, but she showed enough interest where I felt I should ask her out. Cute but not hot...probably closer to my age...maybe 25? Of course I'm chicken shit. So I didn't ask Cassie out, I'd have to know her better.
And I met some guys (more guys then girls unfortunately..Justin, Scott, Jeremy, Chris and 2 other guys)....which is not as good as women, but increasing my friends network is always good too. I haven't lived here long...6 months, most of which I was an EQ-addict...I'm too the point now where I run into people when I drink....it's an improvement.
So it serves it's purpose....I want to do something else for a bit.
Hey, does anyone have any other ideas of shat to do besides drink at a bar?
I already ski and I'm starting the shooting range deal. We go to movies and when were desperate we bowl.
We are all tired of the same old shit.
Suggestions?

Applebee's has normal age people there, as does O'Charleys.
If we were talking late night I'd add IHOP, Denny's, Perkins, Waffle House...but I'm talking places you go to hang, not places you go after you hang.

You've never gone to Denny's at 5am when all the clubs/bars closed?
There are other places to hang out...Jillian's, Yucatan, the Pub, etc....but noone in california would know wtf I'm talking about. Kilmoll, Kylere, Ravven and them might....
I could probably have said "the warehouse" but it's a bad bad place. If you go there, keep it to yourself.

Haha Winnow...its not like that down here....down here it's a mix. Age group has a lot of people 18-23....especially people who don't plan on drinking a whole lot but just want some food.
You will get some older people, but it's about 50/50 college age vs older. Always has been...I remember 11 years or so ago when I was a senior in HS here (I lived here for my senior year of high school only, until this july when I moved back) it was where all the HS seniors would go...so actually it's a pretty young crowd.
Side note: I hate wrong numbers, especially collection wrong numbers...I average 1 wrong nmber every 3 hours here. People in Kentucky can't dial the god damn phone.

When I used 'party', when the club closed, we would go home, shower, have lunch then head to the next party.
If anyone tried to drag me to a Dennys, I'd punch them in the nuts.

I'm the first to vote for bowling because many alleys stay open til 3am or so and
they have bars (big hint!)
I have a 183 average if anyone in the NJ area wants to bowl against me (Loramar if you're reading this message me or something)

And I've had some good times at IHOP late nights with friends...

We ate breakfast, then went home and showered got some Z's and then go to the next party.
Gave us time to sober up, and breakfast is cheaper then lunch. This is back in the day...college. I don't do that shit anymore...now I'm more like you...I party until last call, then I finish my beer and go home.
In my early 20's though, breakfast at the end of a night out was pretty common.

The only time I ever went to TGI Fridays for anything other than lunch, I ended up throwing up on my new hiking boots just outside the entrance after being bought a few rounds of some disgusting shot.
Thanks for the memories!

I could think of a lot of places to go if you just want to meet single chicks. Try a church, especially a Catholic one if you want easy girls. The Applebees and Fridays places are too pricey to become a regular and quite honestly they would be boring as all fuck. Try a smaller local place where you can become one of the regulars and get to know people. Any place where there are pool tables and dancing and live music is pretty good. I would have to say the Back Porch during the spring and summer is a good place and Rick's Tavern in Fairfield is becoming very popular for some reason. Ravvenn showed us a place down on the river in Cincinnati that would be a really good place during warm months as well....can't remember the name of it though.
If you have some serious balls and no sense of morals whatsoever, I would suggest attending funerals for anyone that you even remotely know through their family or friends. If you see a hot chick at a funeral and she is alone, she is either not seeing anyone or they are very easily replaced since they are not caring enough to be there for her in her time of need.

I'm not afraid of kids.
I like kids. The 21 yr old hottie with a kid...she would be well worth it. The kid is like 3, boy, named Hunter. Hunter is a cool name, not very common. I haven't met him yet but I've seen pics.
But she is defiantely a 10 on looks, and she is cool to talk with....I'm 28, most guys my age have kids...so taking one on is no biggie...now taking 2 on is a bit more especially when they are almost college age.
And my friend is trying to hook me up with a 30 yr old that has 3 kids but he says she is hot (and another 2 friends back him up)....I'm not sure on that one....3 kids is a lot of baggage.
If I come off sounding like I hit on women all the time etc....let me just clarify this..I don't. I rarely ask girls out, I'm picky.
BTW while I'm on that subject...please just tell guys "Yes" or "No" when we ask you out. I have this one chick I talk to daily...I asked her out 3 weeks ago...she had to think about it....it's been 3 weeks, I've talked to her maybe 14x and hung out with her 3x since then...and I still don't fucking have an answer. She calls me and asks me to go places, it's not like I'm just a guy who won't leave her alone. I mean we are friends ATM, but I want a yes no answer so I know if it's staying friends, we didn't know eachother long before I asked. Her name is Emily.
Similar situation with the Rachel girl, except Rachel I never officially asked out....I tried...but I always get her voice mail. Like Thursday, she hugged me, ran her fingers thru my hair....sounds like a good sign right? In the past I would call her and she never returned my calls. But she obviously doesn't have a problem with me. I wouldn't bother otherwise, because she is out of my league. She is a 10, I'm like a 7. It's just I read the signs, I'm not good at reading them but I think I understand what hugs and fingers through the hair means....it means I have a chance, right? I'm so confused on that one.

This sounds like some fucked up Sweet Valley High: The Mid 20's years book.
For the record, never ever ever date a chick with more than one kid. Don't say you weren't warned.

I'm just too selfish at his point in my life and refuse to take upon the responsibility of dating a woman with children. Once a child enters the picture, a whole new set of rules and proceedures enters the dating formula. I'm no where close to following those guidelines. I aslo know too many kids that grew up around their devorced mother and their string of boyfriends throughout the formative years of their lives. I'm not saying single parents shouldn't date by any means. I just think many are not aware of how much impact it has on their children. Caution needs to be practiced, along with lots of explaining and understanding.
Kudos to those that can take upon that responsibility though. It's just too big for me to deal with in my current mindset and lifestyle.

Hey, Kilmoll, Ravvenn, Homercles...if you guys remember the name of the place on the water tell me.
Back porch is too far north, it was fine when I was living with Claritin, but I'm like 30 mins south now, and then he moved down here also....so not much reason for me to go that far north.
I understand about the church thing. I just can't do it. I can't stand church. It's not that I'm a satanist...I just don't beleive in god. I think Church is an awsome scam to get 100's of people to give you 10% of thier wages....and to watch 100's of people sit there starng straight forward doing what ever that guy says and then forking over money in front of me drives me fucking bonkers. I just can't sit through it very often. I did it for a summer once....I even went to bible camp when I was in High school, a friend wanted me to go and half the HS cheerleaders went to that camp. I met a lot of girls, it was fun, I had a blast...except for the whole church part.
And I can't do the funeral thing either. But that's for moral reasons, it's a good idea though. I will go to any friends funerals, no doubt there, and if I meet a girl fine...but that's not why I will go.

Kilmoll, I agree, it's mainly because all my friends are 8 years younger then I am. Except a couple, but I'm atleast 6 yrs older then everyone in my group of friends.
Great guys, just way younger then me.....it's hard because most girls they bring over are 16-20. Actually I don't think they have every brought anyone over that didn't fit in that range. I'm 28, 29 in June.
It's a pretty obvious problem. And it's why I'm looking to drag my friends to new places....I want to get some more 20+ yr old women (and guys too) into the group.

Bars/Pubs with limited menu options (READ: Appetizers and a few sandwiches) are my favorite by far. Great drink prices, but pricey food. Although when your trashed, prices don't really matter at that point.
PS: Having worked at an Applebee's throughout high school, I can tell you with complete certainty that rednecks hang out there. And employees. Nothing more.

Used to hang out at Denny's all the time after work (used to work the 2nd/3rd shift so it was always good to go for a shithole place to drink coffee, eat fries and smoke packs all night to unwind after work). Now, when we go out, usually we like to go dancing, so we'll go to Alumni Club or Voodoo. Maybe we'll go to Rip Rocks if i'm in that area. when I lived closer to the city, my friends and I would go to this really intimate Hawaiian bar Hala Kahiki. They had the BEST tropical drinks. Only 4 choices for domestic beers, so us gals were happy
When we're feeling goofy and want to just have some good ole fashion fun, we'll go to Gameworks in Schaumburg. They have 2 bars, a restaurant and my favorite : VIDEO GAMES! Plus, Xunil's cousin works there, so he hooks us up with all the shit -- unlimited game cards, free drinks etc

It was coco cabanas fool!
(Cabana on the river now I think)
Was a great bar to go to in summer time, since its outside and all.
Have sand volleyball, live music, karaoke, wet t contests and cheap drinks.
They close at midnight on weekends now..so it sucks.
You are talking about the place Kilmoll was sipping his draft beer from a plastic cup right?!?
Denny's is a shithole, we hit Wafflehouse after bars(we dont have IHOP 'round here).
As for Applebee's, Friday's etc. When we have 'girls night out' we normally meet there before we hit a bar since they charge you for one drink what you'd pay for 4 drinks at some random hole in the wall bar.
ps/ You forgot Hooters

"So Pilsburry is the creepy old guy at all the high school parties - that everyone keeps around just cause he's the only one old enough to buy the beer?"
No...
1. There are very few in HS that I hang with. Actually maybe 1, and she doesn't drink much....she is my friends date. Most are 3rd-4th year college students.
2. Most the parties are at my house or we go out to a bar/club...I usually skip any party being held at someones house unless they own the house. With the exception of my 5 closest friends Jay, Trey, Jeff M, Jeff K, and Amanda who are still in college so they live with thier parents.
3. My parties are pretty much BYOB. I'm noones beer bitch...yes minors have drank here in the past, but they came with thier own beer, and I made them sleep on the couch.
Watch the movie "Old School" I'm almost exactly like the main character "The Godfather" in regards to my current situation....except my 2 best friends aren't "Frank the Tank" and "the Speaker City guy"...they are my 22 year old brother and our 22 yr old best friend (he is like a foster brother, he practicially lived with us for years). Everyone was having fun there right? The college students, the godfather, frank the tank, everyone except the dean....noone was being used.
I don't mind hanging with a younger crowd...but I would like to make it even a bit older then it is now, I'd like everyone to be 21-25 instead of 19-22. I mean who wouldn't if your almost 29? But it's hard to do....my friends are in college, 22 is old for college, therefore most thier friends from college are younger then them.
I'm trying to break out of meeting EVERYONE through my friends, by finding a new place to hang out...take 1-4 people 21+ scout a bar and hopefully meet couple people age 22+. That's why I brought this thread up.
I'm not trying to replace my current friends, but I'd like to supplment it a little, and your trying to what? To make me feel uncomfortable about asking for a new place to hang out? I don't get you.
I moved here from 500 miles away just like 7 months ago, I work out of my home office, please cut me a little slack....I'm trying to meet people and my best quick route was to use my existing network of friends that I had similar interests with (my other network....well we get along fine still, but our interests have grown way apart, they still play dnd and live in thier parents basement, I'd kill myself first.).

Most of the time friends and I hang out at the local bars around town. Sometimes we go to a local fridays since I'm really good friends with the bartenders and when 8 people can drink at least 10 drinks each and order 18 shots for people and only pay 30bucks isn't a bad place to hang.

Anywhere you know most of the staff at is good, because your treatment will be top notch even if you don't get a discount. Plus you can network something with the people you know working there to hang out later that night or the next day.
That's the way I'm at BW-3's....I know quite a few people that work there. My brother being one of them...his girlfriend another, I know maybe 6 people currently working there pretty well, like they come to my parties and such...I know a few others slightly like met up with them once someplace or other, a few others Ive been introduced to or whatever...and now I'm starting to introduce myself to the rest when I get a chance.
I figure if I'm going to end up there several times a week, I might as well get to know them better.
