However, someone answer me this cause it seems to me a very ICKY form of birth control:

- As a male or female, can you feel it while humping?!?

- If yes, did the peen ever hook on the loop you are supposed to use to pull it out? Did it get stuck?

- Why the hell would anyone use this as birth-control (and it's been backordered since 2001 when it was announced it would eventually be back on the market). There's only about a 91% effective rate on pregnancy prevention and it seems messy as hell.

some women can't take birth control pills for various medical reasons (allergies, side effects, fertility issues etc.).

IUD's are really the only other solution other than relying on the notion that your man is responsible enough to have a condom with him (lol lol lol), or if you simply don't like condoms.

I think they are gross too. I am not a fan of inserting anything up there that isn't going to gratify me. =) Fortunately I don't have any problems with the pill. precious, precious pill...

I get the Depo shot. Personally I never considered IUD's as a form of control due to the percentage rate of pregnancy. I'll take my .01% chance instead of a 9% chance.

Hormonal birth controls are hard on some women. I know a lot who've tried Depo, but had to quit because they put on like 20 lbs; they got off it and the weight really just dropped. Another went on the pill and lost her sex drive. Smokers and others are discouraged from them, too.

This is where we seperate the mangina from the women.

the chances of not getting pregnant with this is like 91% or so, but the statistic probably goes way up when you use other natural methods like the rythym method and/or pulling out before the big moment.

I don't them myself but I doubt that you really want a guy to shoot his load in you when you are wearing a sponge anyway. Eventually you are going to have to take that fucker out.

condoms by themselves aren't much more reliable birth control. I think they are only about 90% effective by themselves.

I think what appealed about the sponge was the fact that you didn't have to go to a doctor. Even in college, having to talk w/ a family MD about sex can be intimidating. Both the girls from my sample weren't humping around a lot and were pretty conscientious about safe sex. They knew how to properly deploy a condom, so I guess the sponge was just a backup.

Well regardless of feeling uncomforable, females mature enough to be having sex should be mature enough to visit there local gynocologist and get their yearly wonderfully exciting pap tests!

Fishing out a 24-hour worn spunk filled sponge sounds a lot more uncomfortable to me than discussing birth control with a medical professional.

You missed the key word "should be" mature enough. SHOULD BE, but aren't, and it's unfortunate.

There are other methods such as Norplant and diapghrams. I have heard Fairweather mention another birth control method on here a few times....something called "anal". Not sure how effective that is.

Sheepskin condoms and caution always has been a good combo for me.

I guess it may actually be possible under the right, freakish circumstances. I've heard stories of a woman in Brazil that got pregant by having anal sex. Apparently she fell asleep on her stomach after the sweet, sweet, butt-love session, and the sperm ran out of her ass and into her cooter. It sounds like complete BS, but I remeber reading it on a medical site or somewhere else that was very reputable. That's the only reason it sticks out in my mind to this day.

Anyway, if you read the statistics about the life cycle of sperm and the trials and tribulations they face in thier search to create life, you'd wonder how anyone ever gets pregnant. Seems the odds are pretty much stacked against our boys.

Stopping in the middle of sex for a little nibble on the spam drapes is a rather common occurance, and sponge dosen't sound too tasty IMO.

the sponge doesn't really stop sperm. It justs acts like a trampoline and gives the sperm something else to do. They are distracted easily.

although I don't recommend it for anyone, there is but one true method to be 100% sure.

Norplant isn't used by most OB/GYN's anymore. I looked into after I had my daughter 3 months ago. From what my doc told me it runs a HUGE risk of infection in the injection site and most woman that have had it don't highly recommend it due to the hormornal changes.
