I think drinking at the workplace is grounds for being fired/suspended at most places of business (provided you're talking about work, and not coding at home). Sometimes a few of us from my department have drinks at lunch though.

It's too easy to fuck up when coding. I don't feel like trying to read 1000 lines of code troubleshooting while drunk.

Should add "Sometimes" to that list. When I get stumped for creative material I sometimes have a beer to relax. (rarely) I'd hate to have to try and debug while a bit sauced. You can create more problems that way.

I code with a class of wine or a good scotch. I don't get sloshed, just nice and warm.
