I don't know, those mac folks are used to things working correctly. They might be in for a shock.

I didn't delete it, but I did give it to Xaryssa/Alyxyn for safe keeping. No idea if it's still around at this point, or if it's vanished into the non-pay ether.

The linux users would be pissed because it doesn't come with a game editor. I'm sure a week after that they'd create one.

OS9 is fine, it's OSX that's laggy as hell. Apple didn't want to wait for most applications to become X compatible, so now you gotta load 9
over X in order to run Photoshop and whatnot. Probably be better just to load 9 on startup and keep that till you Mac apps are all upgraded.
Yes, I have a Mac. Yes, I love my Mac. My Mac has made me OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of money. It is the reason I have my P3. EQ on my Mac? I don't know about that. At least I'll be able to 2box when I get my DSL

What version of PhotoShop do you have, and haveyou been keeping up with your OS updates on the Apple site?
The latest versions of PhotoShop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Imageready, Flash, Dreamweaver, Director, and ColdFusion are all already carbonized to work in OSX.
And they run really well for me.
Jaguar is also coming soon, and will fix a lot of the OSX problems

fair enough sarg i stopped using macs regularly around 1997.
back then the OS was even less stable than windows 95, which is saying something.
i realize the landscape has changed dramatically. From what i've read, the new OS kernel is pretty good though. I tinkered with a mac in a retail store they have in a mall near my home, and to be honest i was sort of annoyed with how difficult it was to really get into the organization of the filesystem.
I was hoping to see that a lot of the nice features of the UNIX filesystem were incorporated with the move to base the OS on Darwin, but i couldnt find any types of system logging, devices/process monitoring, etc.
maybe i just wasnt looking in the right place

Bah, you don't need DSL to dual-box!
Long live dial up.

Actually,
How much would it cost to get an entry level Mac?
I'd like to experiment with one at work as a side machine. Who knows it might be good for something unforseen.

You could probably pick up one of the old-style iMacs for about $4-800.

You talking about those one-piece units colored in translucient K-Mart blue?
What are they equvalent to? A PIII?

Well...they have a range of speeds. The old bondi blue colored ones were the slowest. And the newer ones, of course, were faster.
You could probably actually pick up a bondi for about $200. Won't run OSX very well, though.
As far as equivalence....I really don't know exactly. I never owned one of those iMacs, and I never owned a PC faster than a pII.

Actually you can pick up a new eMac (looks like an old iMac but with a 17" monitor) for about a grand and it has a 700MHz G4 which is about the same as a 1.3 Ghz P4 give or take a little.

I cannot in good conscience trust an OS that does not have a command line interface....

Dont know why every one thinks Macs are so stable. They are as stable as any well built computer. Its just that there are a zillion wintel machines so your gonna see OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS more problems. Also more then half of the Pc's are build by idots that dont know shit.
I must say I'm surprised to see this as I thought Sony/Verant was in bed with intel. I wouldnt think Intel would -not- like seeing Sony/Verant gettin it on with apple... but who knows what kinda freaky/kinky shit their into.
I forsee that once Mac's can login patches will take OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS longer to release becuase they must write them for both OS's.
...and sarg. Your mac didnt make you money. You made the money. You could of done the same work on a PC. Otherwise I could say my PC wintel and linux box have made me money.

Actually I have found the Powermac's to be great when working with graphics and other web design software. I never considered a mac to be used for any type of gaming.
