Freaky this happened so close to the last one.

There's a horrifying picture at the front of CNN that shows the fire as it started, engulfing the stage.

I watched the video this morning. Freaky stuff. Now who is responsible for this? The band or the owner? I heard they still haven't found one member of the band yet (Great White).

The bad says they had permission, the building owner and fire marshal says they didn't.

Anyone's guess.

Due to the size of the club, it seems obvious that fireworks would be a stupid idea. An open flame mere inches from walls and ceiling...jeez. However, if the club management said it was ok, well, I would say the fault lies in their court. :(

Very sad, most of the people were teenagers, so unfortunate. Sue everybody for the mistake.

It was 60 this morning. What ever happened to the exaggerating media? This is the first time I've heard of a conservative death toll after such a disaster.

Similarly, about 32 years ago, this happened in London at a Frank Zappa concert, and what followed was probably one of the most notorious songs ever written, 'Smoke on the Water'. Coincidentally, that fire was started when a concert goer shot a flare gun into the ceiling.

Any guesses on the final death count? 100?

96 dead so far and the band has a history of sneaking thier pyrotechnic equipment into clubs. Apparently they did this at the Stone Pony in N.J. and a few other spots recently.

The band leader really nauseated me on his tv interview, basically saying "well they let us do it, it was thier fault." As if one needs to be told that using 9 foot tall flames with 8 foot clearance from stage to ceiling is a bad idea. (just a guess from seeing the video)
