2017 Finished Games List

Post by Funkmasterr »

Here is where we keep track of which games we've finished for the year. I think keeping our small group of remaining posters playing and discussing on the same thread would be better than splitting us up into console specific threads.

--What counts as finished?

Well, I say it's when you see credits roll (if possible). Some games are perpetual, such as sports games, things like Battlefield 1943, and many others. For these, it's whenever you feel you've accomplished the goals you set out for yourself in the game. For something like L4D, it may be as simple as playing through all the maps, or as complicated as getting every acheivement in the game. We're using the honesty system here, so when you've finished a game, go ahead and list it!

What counts as complete?

This is a significant difference over simply finishing a game. Completing means you have snagged 1000/1000 acheivements or platinum trophied the game. You have done everything there is to do in that game. This counts for games as large as Fallout 3 and as small as an XBL or PSN game. If games have no "proof" or scoring method, it's all you're decision.

--What counts as a game?

It's a harder question than you maight think. For instance, when tallying up the games I finished last year, I had to really think about some particular situations. One such issue was "Do I count each piece of DLC for Fallout 3 seperately"? My answer was yes. However, the DLC for Gears 2 and L4D were only one map, so I chose not to count them. I totally counted Peggle on my iPhone, since I beat that like a rented mule. In the end, it's up to you. Some situations will just depend on your personal opinion on what you consider as a game, or just an addition to the game itself. More examples are the latest Borderlands DLC (not games IMO) and the GTA4 expansions Lost and the Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony (both games!).

--Do multiple playthroughs count?

I say yes! I played the single player of Halo 3, Gears 1, and World at War only to play all the way through them again at a later time in co-op mode with a friend. I plan on doing a co-op run through RE5 sometime this year. I count each one of those complete playthroughs as finishing another game. I think you should give yourself credit for the time/effort it takes to play through your favorite games multiple times. This also helps ensures that you continue to play games for enjoyment.

--What systems count?

All of them. iPhone, PC/Steam, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, fucking anything and everything!

The format will be as such:

Date - Game - System - COMPLETE

Only use the red completed msg when you have completed a game. The rest are just assumed that you finished a game.

Sweet baby jesus, that's ridiculous. I probably had a couple of hundred when I quit

I'm still playing FF 14 and I've been playing a lot of Stardew Valley, really liking that game.

Well, Tomb Raider and Far Cry games share similar type mechanics, so you can compare those two, tomb raider was better...but the pet feature in far cry primal was fun.

As for the best of the three? Final Fantasy, all the way.

I'm about 2 hours into the 2nd and I wholeheartedly agree. Whereas the first felt really dated, this one feels a lot more modern and polished.

Third one is amazing and a bigger leap than from 1 to 2 IMO. The side quests are better than most main quests in other games.

Not sure if you're playing these all in a row without a break but don't burn yourself out before Witcher 3.

Finished Nioh the other day. I really like that game - I'm setting it aside for now to try and get through either Nier or Horizon before Mass Effect comes out, but I'll definitely be going back to it to play NG+.

Not at all. I'm still playing Zelda: BotW on the WiiU and Mass Effect: Andromeda on the Xbox One.

Good year so far.

I am playing Far Cry Primal now. A bit weird coming from Horizon. I keep throwing bees when I'm just trying to sic my pet on something. Seems a bit too many controller mechanics!

The search corpses thing is also annoying especially when you have a pet that stands right on the corpse. Which happens like every time. So instead of searching you're now feeding your critter.. Or petting it. omg I just wanted to search a corpse go away!

The pet part of far cry primal is the best part of the game...no doubt. The rest is just ok, especially coming from Horizon. But its very similar in a lot of ways. Again though, pet mechanics are the best part of the game.

It was! I'n not sure of my total time but probably around 12 hours. And a bunch of that was spent looking at a collectible guide. It's a pretty easy, although at times frustrating, Platinum.

Uncharted 4: A Thiefs End - Platinum!

I finally got around to cleaning up the last few things I needed after nearly a year. That Conversation trophy is lame.

I might try the Survival mode on Easy and see how that is. I might be able to pick up 10 more Bronze! I definitely won't be going for Crushing on those.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor - Platinum!

Nearly 2.5 years since I originally started this game (December 1st 2014). It took awhile to get back into it. Lots of controls!

There is a GoTY version I could get as well since they don't share trophies but no thanks. Some of those trophies were dumb.

Hollow Knight - This is one of the better games I've played so far this week. Indy Metroidvania game that is extremely challenging and doesn't hold your hand on anything. I've clocked over 40 hours with it so far. Highly Recommended

I finished with 15 platinums for 2017. Not too bad considering my gaming time these days although a majority of those were in the first half of the year. In the last 6 months I only got 5 of them.

There probably won't be a thread for 2018 I'd guess as there's only a few people that actually still post here.
