Sony wants clueless audiophiles to blow $160 on a 64GB microSD card
Sony has been struggling to figure out a way to get back to the glory days of old, but they may have found a way to turn things around. They’re going to sell overpriced high-end audio gear to people who don’t know any better.
This is Sony’s new Premium Sound microSD card. It’s the ultimate way to expand the storage capacity of their $1,200 Walkman NWZX2 that plays high resolution audio.
If you think the markup Sony slaps on their PS Vita memory cards is ridiculous (and you’re right, they are), brace yourself: a 64GB Premium Sound microSD card will retail for $160. That’s more than five times what Sony’s own 64GB Class 10 UHS-1 microSD card sells for on Amazon.
Good fucking lord. I know Sony is desperate for money (10 straight money losing quarters). Most sane people thought Vita SD cards were hilariously overpriced and now this. 50% mark up!

People think Apples 30% margin is high (includes excellent product and customer service) yet Sony dupes you all with 500% mark ups. They're out of touch!

At least the lightening cables are better than USB. The reversible plugs make a huge difference in day to day convenience. What does Sony's 500% marked up music player SD card do better than what Sony's own 64GB SD card for 500% less?
