Almost Human is good

Post by Fairweather Pure »

This show just started on Sunday with a second episode on Monday back to back with Sleepy Hollow.

I watched it begrudgingly, but I'll be damned, the show is actually good. Like, really good. The special effects are done well and the characters are well cast with good chemistry. Each show has built up the characters and their relationship in both subtle and not so subtle ways. It's funny at times, but has some emotional/thoughtful moments as well. The end of the second episode has me hooked. It is looking like this show will address some interesting topics in it's robotic based future. That is the kind of stuff I like to see and the show is delivering in spades.

It's like an I, Robot (movie version) buddy cop show, but the crime is dangerous, seedy, and real. I also like that the police are actually competent. Two shows and two cases closed so far!

It's so much better than SHIELD, and that is sad to me :(

I can't believe I missed the first episode last week. Just grabbed the first two episodes and will watch them. Doesn't take much to be better than SHIELD right now. Hoping this show it good.

I'd be happy watching Tera Nova or Defiance at this point!

Caught the first episode sunday night before walking dead. Its pretty good, at least based on the pilot. The first episode wasn't anything new to the genre, but the actors are well cast, and the characters are well written. Only time will tell if they got lazy.

The problem for this show will be the same problem for all network TV shows, and that's episode count. I can't seem to find how many episodes season 1 is supposed to be...but if its less than, say 14 or so, then it will probably work. If they make this show have a ton of filler eps, the writing will get slack, etc, and ruin the show.

Enjoyed the first episode. I like the actor (bones from the new Start Trek movies)

It's kind of a mix between Blade Runner and Robocop. Could be good depending on the stories. They do a very good job with special effects, especially with the tech gizmos.

Second episode was even better than the first. Sexbots!

Best lines of the episode:
[Show]
(Dorian set up an online dating profile for Kennex)

Dorian: I ran a bioscan and it looked like your testicles were at full capacity.

Detective John Kennex: You're scanning my balls?

Dorian: I didn't enjoy it. I just can't help but notice. You're backed up.

Detective John Kennex: What is the matter with you? Don't scan my testicles...ever again.
Another very solid episode that resolves the case in one show. The stories have been interesting, character development great through the first two and special effects remain outstanding for a TV show. First episode is always a crash course introducing all the main characters. Second episode settles down into some good dialogue.

It's pretty graphic for a TV show on a major network. The concern is that it's on FOX which likes to cancel great shows like Firefly.

If you wonder like me why the second episode seemed to be in a hurry to introduce the romance subplot and how come the two partners seem too comfortable already, I did some research and it turns out FOX is airing the episodes out of order. This is Firefly all over again.

http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch/ ... /listings/

The 2nd episode you watched is the 5th.
The 3rd episode is going to be the 6th.
The 4th is going to be the 7th.
God only knows about the rest.

Edit: Ratings have been shit too. It's in the 2.2 million area and dropped for it's second episode. It's probably because it has not aired in a regular time slot (it aired Sunday then Monday) and it's sliding under lots of people's radar at the start. Like a said above, it's Firefly all over again.

Fox doesn't count so good.

I got the 'first' 2 episodes so will watch it eventually. I'll probably just wait for the season to end and watch them in the proper order. Unless the show gets canned. Then I wont bother!

What a bunch of retards over at FOX.

At least Married with Children was good in the 80's.

Ratings dropped again to 1.9 :(

Life is unfair! This show does not deserve cancellation!

Third episode aired is high quality entertainment as well. I'll enjoy however many episodes we get before it gets cancelled.

I'm still watching this show. Its pretty darn good, but I watch it on DVR since the time slot is inconvenient.

4th episode aired was pretty good. A little too much "breaking bad" in there but still good.

Guess I wont be bothering! That saves me about 10 hours of time. And 16GB of drive space.

With the terrible numbers, I can understand the decision. I would like to have had 1 more season and a different time slot to see if the cult following might've grown into something bigger. Too bad. It was a great show.

Oh well :(

I would have watched the episodes if they knew it was ending and were able to neatly tie up the story. But at this point that's too much time investment for me for something that just gets axed so I just deleted the whole season yesterday. Sure, Firely etc.. But not every show is a Firefly!

I was impressed with the special effects and use of "near future" technology. The episodes were mostly self contained so they are watchable individually.
