Skyfall

Post by Bubba Grizz »

I saw this over the weekend. I can't say that I am the super fan of the Bond movies but I do really enjoy them. This movie was right up there on par with the others.

There were a few things I had problems with though as far as the story went. The made Bond look week to the point of enfeebled in some cases. I didn't like that so much. Also, there really isn't a Bond Girl like there has been in the past. Same thing with gadgets. No cool gadgets this movie. I still enjoyed the movie though.
I would give it 8/10.

I'm a huge bond fan, and couldn't wait to see this friday night and did. I liked it a lot, but there was some crazy hype over it for sure on the radio friday. Would also give it an 8/10. They said they were bringing the fun back to bond, but I don't think they did. Its on par with the same feel as Casino Royale. Not "fun" like Roger Moore bond.

I concur totally with the lack of gadgets, but it did provide for ONE great zinger...but only one. The car though was totally great, was fantastic to see that old aston!

I thought it was a really good Bond film, and I'd also give it an 8, maybe even 9 out of 10.

I'll be the contrarian and say that I liked the lack of gadgets. I know they've been a staple of the franchise for so long, and am a fan of Bond gadgetry as much as the next guy, but it was fun for me to see Bond getting it done without them. I think that a bunch of toys would have detracted from the story being told in this movie.

I thought it was really cool that they gave Judi Dench a good send off rather than just switching M's between films. I've really enjoyed her as M over the last 17 years. Also, who can be disappointed by a super hot new Moneypenny?

The fun was most certainly there. It was just more subtle than before. The shaken martini: "perfect", the winking while he shot, the cuff fix after jumping on the train, "Who do you work for?!", bad guys secret island layer, Aston Martin!, and many more, including Q. I thought Javier Bardem as possibly gay (rofl) bad guy was great as well. Certainly better than that investment banker in Casino Royale, or whoever we were supposed to root against in Quantom of Solace.
