Has the US ever detailed how each of the detainees was captured, and who they are, etc.?

Yes, a sweep of America's "Quicky Marts" resulted in thousands of arrests.

It was funny. It didn't answer my question. I suppose I'll have to search bbc.co.uk.

The ICRC has visited more than 4,000 detainees in more than 30 locations throughout Afghanistan. The organization also plans to meet with the 2,000 detainees expected to be in Guantanamo when the facility reaches its full capacity. Currently nearly 200 detainees are at the site.
Ok, so 4,000 total prisoners, nearly 200 at Gitmo, and up to 2,000 expected to be there. The real key is why are they there. That's what I'm looking for.

Thanks Cart.

Edit:
From this Feb 8th article:
t brings the total of serious suicide attempts in the camp, which holds more than 600 Taleban and al-Qaeda suspects captured during the war in Afghanistan, to 14 in the past year.
So 600 total. Their going title is 'unlawful combatants'.

Most of them are there because the chips for the nachos were stale, but some are there for selling cigarettes to kids under 18.
