Mindbender?
I got this in an email this morning. I was wrong on all of them but I blame the lack of caffine in my system. *yawn*
Are you the weakest link? Below are four (4) questions. You have to answer them instantly. You can't take your time, answer all of them immediately. OK? Let's find out just how clever you really are.
Ready?
GO!!! (scroll down)
First Question:
You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in?
Answer: If you answered that you are first, then you are absolutely wrong! If you overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second!
Try not to screw up in the next question.
To answer the second question, don't take as much time as you took for the first question.
Second Question: If you overtake the last person, then you are...?
Answer: If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST person?!
You're not very good at this are you?
Third Question: Very tricky math! Note: This must be done in your head only. Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it.
Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000. Now add 10. What is the total?
Scroll down for answer..
Did you get 5000? The correct answer is actually 4100.
Don't believe it? Check with your calculator! Today is
definitely not your day. Maybe you will get the last question right?
Mary's father has five daughters: 1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3. Nini, 4. Nono. What is the name of the fifth daughter?
Answer: Nunu?
NO! Of course not. Her name is Mary. Read the question again

Bullshit! Apparently I lack the logic skills to see this after looking at it repeatedly. Can someone school me as to how the fuck it equals 4100? Thanks in advance.Take 1000 and add 40 to it. How many "1000" do you see? there are 4... so 4000
40+30+20+10 = 100
100 + 4000 = 4100

Got this in my e-mail this morning. It's just copied and pasted, sorry about the spaces.
MIND GAME
2% or 98%
This is strange...can you figure it out?
Are you the 2% or 98% of the population?
Follow the instructions! NO PEEKING AHEAD!
* Do the following exercise, guaranteed to raise an eyebrow.
* There's no trick or surprise.
* Just follow these instructions, and answer the questions one at a time and as quickly as you can!
* Again, as quickly as you can but don't advance until you've done each of them ... really. * Now, scroll down (but not too fast, you might miss something).
Think of a number from 1 to 10
Multiply that number by 9
If the number is a 2-digit number, add the digits together
Now subtract 5
Determine which letter in the alphabet corresponds to the number you ended up with
(example: 1=a, 2=b, 3=c,etc.)
Think of a country that starts with that letter
Remember the last letter of the name of that country
Think of the name of an animal that starts with that letter
Remember the last letter in the name of that animal
Think of the name of a fruit that starts with that letter
Are you thinking of a Kangaroo in Denmark eating an Orange?
I told you this was FREAKY!! If not, you're among the 2% of the population whose minds are different enough to think of something else. 98% of people will answer with kangaroos in Denmark when given this exercise.

- There are only 4 countries that start with the letter D. Denmark, Djibouti, the Dominican Republic and Dominica.
- Very few animals start with the letter K
I picked a Kodiak in Denmark eating a kumquat.
Clever little puzzle when you think about it.

I got 4 out of 5 on the first mindbender questions Grizz posted, no coffee enhancements (although I did do this after lunch).
On the one Vetiria posted, I thought of a Koala in Denmark eating an Apricot
I have no fucking clue why I thought of apricot before apple, the only kind I've eaten is the dried kind you get in trail mix.
Edit: speelling eroars!

He went to the fridge, grabbed some grapes, got confused about whether or not he was a caged monkey at the zoo and started cramming them in his ass. Then his dad walked in, got confused and bent him over the dining room table.
It ain't exactly the Cleavers, but hell, blame it on the confusion.

Please tell me you don't need explaination on this.
well, whaddaknow. there *is* a fruit that starts with the letter I (other than all the Indian dates, almonds and figs etc)
Imbu
Anacardiaceae Spondias tuberosa Arruda.
Source: Magness et al. 1971
Imbu grows wild in Northeastern Brazil and is cultivated sparingly in other relatively dry, tropical areas. The tree is spreading and lowgrowing, with compound leaves up to 6 inches long, each with 5 to 9 leaflets. Fruits are produced near the ends of the branches. They are oval in shape, about 1.5 inches long, with a single seed. The fruit generally resembles plums, but with a tougher, thicker skin. The flesh is soft, almost watery. It is eaten fresh or made into jelly.

Ok, here's another one:
You do not need to write the answers, just do it using your mind.
You'll be surprised.
Just follow these instructions, and answer the questions one at a time and as quickly as you can!
Again, as quickly as you can but don't advance until you've done each of them ... really.
Now, scroll down (but not too fast, you might miss something).
Start:
How much is :
15+6
3+56?
89+2
12+53
75+26
25+52
63+32
I know! Calculations are hard work but
it's nearly over..
Come on, a few more...
123+5
QUICK! THINK ABOUT A TOOL AND A COLOR!
You have just thought about a red
hammer, haven't you??
If this is not the case, you are among 2%
of the people who have a "different," if not "abnormal," mind. 98%
of the folks answer" red hammer" doing this exercise.
If you do not believe it, pass it around and you'll see.
