I about soiled myself this morning.....

$1.93 at my local (Pismo Beach, Cali) and rising!

What's it like where you live? This is going to get fucking brutal for all us commuters. Only 45 mile commute here, I'm sure there is much worse.

I think it's $1.65 for regular unleaded around here. Luckily my commute is 4 miles round trip so a full tank lasts me close to a month.

That's up from $1.39 two weeks ago.

$1.69 here in Jackson for regular unleaded. Sucks to be a college student that has no money what so ever and doing a 50 mile commute three times a week.

Last week it was $1.72, this morning it is $1.65 for the mid-grade stuff (which is usually the same price as the regular unleaded) in Minnesota.

1.97 her in Calabasas where I work for 87 regular unleaded. Of course, it is a Chevron in a rich town so.... Seems to avg 1.79 in the valley. Fucking ripoff.

1.75 last I pumped (Wednesday I think). Not sure what it is today. I know that part of the problem is the Venezuala oil field strike.

89 octane gas is $1.66 per gallon in NH today. But, the $1.59 a gallon I just paid for heating oil pissed me off OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS more....

You guys are paying 39 downpayments for 399 dollars and an amount of like 800 dollars when picking it up LOL.... :) Here that car would cost 350.000 dollars

It is all perspective. When you are used to paying 1.25-1.50 per gallon and the price jumps, folks are bound to be unhappy.

It is not like we say, "Well, gas sure is pricey, but look what they have to pay in Denmark."

Prices here in Calgary took about a 20% hike at the end of last week, and are floating roughly (because of volume/currency conversions) $2.25 a gal (usually around the $0.80/L mark Cdn).

Lower the Fing Price please

Average around here is $1.80. You can get cheaper if you use shitty Arco gas, etc. Premium neighborhoods are up to about $1.90. Word on the streets is gas prices will continuing rising. /rude! I put $20 in my tank yesterday and it only filled about 1/3 of the tank. So sad.

are they still striking in venezoila? I haven't heard much about it in a few weeks.

Think the strike finally fizzled out down there, but it really hurt their oil production and economy big time. They may go against OPEC in aims of trying to help the economy by selling extra oil, but who knows.

Ok, there is a reason why gas prices effect Americans so much:

It's called poor City Planning. With suburban sprawl and the "Not in my backyard" (NIMB) attitude of many American's these days the average commute to work has become so long that now some people spend almost as much time commuting as they do working. Compound that with our desire to drive large gas guzzling and polluting vehicles ("Expeditions, Suburbans, HUMVees, Land Rovers, etc") we have in essence generated a skyrocketing demand side curve. Supply is relatively fixed (OPEC is capping/capped production) so it follows that gas prices can go up and the average consumer is stuck without much recourse. Because some people believe its a god given right to live 50 miles from work and drive 12 mpg vehicles the rest of us "lesser" beings are stuck footing the bill. Think about it, each time you see a SUV rolling down the road in part you are also paying a share of the cost in taxes (because those vehicles get tax breaks on sales/production and have lower emissions or no emissions standards which you cover in taxes for environmental clean-up and testing) and because the increased demand for fuel to supply these vehicles means additional pressure for increased prices at the pump.

I can't think of one person I know that sees a fat person walking down the road and says "Gee, there goes a healthy person, I really admire how fat they are." Yet many American's gawk at the large gas guzzling vehicles and desire them even though they are absolutely unhealthy for all of us.

As for city planning, we have abandoned our cities for the boring and wasteful (from a land management viewpoint) use of tracts of land to create the illusion of the american dream. Its such a sham it makes me sick. If you want to do something about gas prices and about all the time we waste in our lives on commuting start thinking about alternatives to the crap being shoved down throats and take a stand. I do in my community and live by setting an example. I drive a small vehicle, I live in a downtown urban setting, and I always do my best to live next to work. We could in numbers stand up against the poor development of our last remaining resources. I have written my Congressmen several times this year and yes I get back the same old form letter crap. Maybe if more of us did this they would wake up and do something for fear of disenfranchising voters.

BTW: The averge cost of commuting by car is far higher than the cost of your vehicle and petrol. Add in licensing, emissions testing, city, state, federal taxes, subsidies, tolls, auto insurance, etc and you will realize that we all spend an enormous amount of cash on transportation... not including all the time we spend on roads sucking up exhaust fumes and dealing with the other 'morons' on the road as frustrated as we are.

Presidents Day weekend/holiday jacked gas prices up in the States as well.

Its around 1.68 in west michigan, holding around the 1.75 range that ive seen. Oh well I really hope they go down

Cheapest I've seen is $1.63/regular here in Cincinnati/Dayton area. Average price is about $1.74 though, and has remained so for over a week now. My theory is that the gas prices will rise until they hit about $1.90/regular, hover there for a week or so, then fall back down to around $1.65, at which point the gas companies will make a big deal about lowering their prices again.

The days of $1.25 gas are over.

I pay around 1.65-1.70 in minneapolis.. but when I drive down the road, i just watch the SUV's pass and laugh at them and how they probably just put like 75 dollars into their gas tank for the next 2 days.

Its .99 cents at the Little Debbie snacks factory in Columbus GA every Wednesday, just have to buy a dozen donuts with your gas purchase, get all you want at .99 a gallon.

$1.62/gal near the fuel terminals, they get lots of commercial traffic. $1.70/gal+ elsewhere.

$1.38/gal if I drive up to Sam's Wholesale, thier prices won't swing up until they actually buy more expensive fuel.

I saw $2.15 for regular in the foothills out here Sat , that was for Reg Unleaded. Then again its always higher when you get up into the mountains. My poor poor Jeep gets abuout 10mpg , I only wish I had one of then 15-20mpg SUVs at times. Then again I dont take that damn thing on trips very often at all. My commute is all of 3 miles , so I love that fact to.

I'm paying almost $2/gallon for premium here, so figure $1.80/gal. of regular. I almost shit when it took $30 bucks to fill up my car...

I filled up last night on the way home from school...

$1.66/gl for 93 octane (10% enthanol)
$1.73/gl for 89 octane non-ethanol

Here in desolate north-eastern south dakota they are building ethanol plants all over the place... there are 4 within a 75 mile radius...

Once the ethanol is blended with gasoline it tends to decrease the price a bit...

Gas is up to $1.93 (for 89 octane) at my local stations in LA. Aranuil is getting off easy being out in the valley. Unfortunately, my car requires high performance fuel, and I cringe every time I head to the gas station.

by the way, this is the oil companies price gouging us.

When I was in Hawaii this past November, gas prices were just nuts. Considering it's a pain in the ass getting them anything that isn't actually grown and/or harvested there, it's understandable. But still, the Big Island had prices in the $2.40 range for premium. I can only imagine what it is now.

Luckily, Jersey seems to have one of the lowest gasoline taxes in the country. Even though the state is full-serve only, the prices are still lower here than just about anywhere else.
