Moving to Scotland tomorrow!

I wanted to move to a place that is cold and dark, but since my ex-girlfriend already has a roommate, I decided to settle in Scotland instead. Anyone spent any time in the country and have some helpful 'culture shock' tips to keep in mind?
Right now it's for a year, but I'd love to keep a long-term option open.

I am insanely jealous that you can do this! Have fun! I have no tips. Wear a hoodie and drink a lot...you'll probably fit in just fine!

"The problem with Scotland is that it's full of Scots"
Kaldaur's hoping for some Prima Nocta action!

Avoid driving, I was there a week and even though Australians and the British drive on the same side of the road it was more of a culture shock than when I was in the US and had to drive on the right.
The highways that run north/south are acceptible, but trying to get anywhere east/west is like rallying. Then when you get to a village, the roads are all wide enough for one car but are two-way, so there's some system of flashing lights at each other from opposite ends of the street to tell you to come on ahead, or something.
Oh, and there's no redheads anywhere that I saw

Avoiding the curse of the ginger is a good thing for most
Used to get a lot of Scots students, they'd always ask where your family was from, when you told them you had ancestors from there you were like a long lost cousin.

I don't get it. Patrick Stewart is English. Why are you going to Scotland?

I'm up in Aberdeen, the weather's been wonderful so far. Check back in December when the sun goes down.
There are red heads every where I look. All the red head guys shaved their heads, but they're also all in the Royal Marines, from what I can tell. They're very big, so I didn't want to ask if they were naturally ginger.
The nice part about my building is that everyone is from other countries, so we have a very diverse group. I'm isolated in my corner of the US, but I've met more people in two days from other places than I met in 26 years in southern Illinois. So in that regard the experience is already a success.

The women over there all need braces. Just so you know.
