Run For Your Lives!

Post by Sylvus »

So this past weekend I participated in the Warrior Dash, which was hella fun and a big challenge and I'm proud of myself for completing it.

As my wife and our friends that we did it with had so much fun, we keep looking for other fun events like that. To that end, my buddy just sent me a link to Run For Your Lives, which is a 5k with obstacles and ZOMBIES CHASING YOU!!

This sounds so awesome, I hope they bring one near us next year!

Ha! I'm planning on running in the zombie race. I've been running a few races recently and figured this would be a relaxed and sort of hilarious one. If anyone else plans to come to Bmore to run it, let me know!

So I looked at that Warrior Dash website-- does it list the actual distance anywhere? Is it also a 5k? 5k obstacle course with silly hats, basically?

I have some friends that have been trying to get the Zombie run somewhere closer to the Kansas City area next year. Looks like it would be a lot of fun to participate in.

I think it came out to like 3.25 miles they said, so just a little over. There were 11 obstacles, including a mud bog that was up to my chest, fire, walls to climb over, barbed wire to climb under, etc. It was a ton of fun, I already signed up for next year.

how in shape must you be for these things? My cardio is ok...but i'm not sure about mud bogs and rope ladders after a few miles, etc.

There were people of all shapes and sizes. I've been running a lot for most of the year, and it still kicked my butt a bit, but there were some people that were way more out of shape than me that were doing and completing it. I'd say that as long as you can run a 5k, you can do it. It's going to take a lot longer than a 5k though.

This article includes a pretty good POV video of the course we ran.

This seemed to be most fitting here, although it'll likely be missed by most people that still visit VV..

It's actually quite a clever idea. I hope they do well.
