weird for a corporation to be taking a political stance. maybe they are terrorists?!?!

I think it goes to show how unpopular this invasion is though, if a corporation like Sony would try something like this.

Plus, the ad is kinda funny.

Anyone that seems to do anything that would be deemed as unamerican as being anti-war or anti-bush or things of that nature should most definately be deemed terrorists! After all with this new Freedom act coming out we should all watch what we say about anything having to do with our president or invading iraq or anything that can be deemed the slightest bit un-american because before we know it they will be ass-governing us by bombarding our houses with sekr1t video cameras and l33t phone taps...

I caught a little blurb of a nature piece on TV last night about Shark Attacks, and how when one happens the media tends to blow it out of preportions. How dare the shark act on instinct and attack the thing swimming through the water! Usually, these lead to something called a culling. A hunt, where they kill as many of them as they can to "keep the popullation in check". I couldn't help but wonder if the sharks are culling us? Maybe VV needs a culling.

Which was made due to the original Gulf War. What I'm trying to say is you figure they'd take this as a chance for another video game.

I thought Ghost Recon was mostly about Soviet seperatists and hardline communists from the old era.

I believe it's, 'SOCOM - US Navy Seals' that is based on the Gulf War, and as Kyoukan said, 'Ghost Recon' based on Soviet seperatists.

No, they didn't. They used their medium (videogames) to put across a message about a REAL LIFE issue that will cost many lives. They make billions from videogame violence (among other games), but that's all it is, videogames. Are they killing anyone? Kids minds don't count btw in this instance

Ghost Recon takes place in the year 2008 when a group of Soviet hardliners rise up to take power in Russia and intend to reestablish the old USSR by taking over the (now independent) countries.

i thought the ad just didnt quite do it.

i dont care at all about the political angle one way or the other. they want to buy advertising space and make a political statement go for it. it's their money.

my point is that i just think the spot wasnt very good. i think they didnt deliver on the concept very well in the final implementation.

Bleh, the PS2 version of this anti war ad was shit. The grahpics were horrible, there were no real time shadows, and the loading time.. GOD.

Yes Sony does release game titles on their console that are violent. Yes they have realistic war like and shootem games. But you know what, I applaud them for saying "No war, please." It's a very powerful thing. And ok yes they made the commercial THROUGH violent games, but that was to get your attention, to get the attention of the youth of america, to make the statement, that video games, yeah it's fun to blow the crap out of people, kill dragons, steal cars. But war is serious, people die, economies get fucked up, and heaven forbid a nuke or biological warfare gets involved. Especially since now we have countries who are stepping up and saying to the US to stop it like France and Germany. The United Nations countries are not longer either for us or neautral, now we have for us, neutral, and against our decisions to invade Iraq.

Who cares about the violent video games. I care about not going to war and /cheer to Sony. Flame me all you want, flame Sony all you want, see the big picture. It scares me every day reading the front page of the newspaper. Just on the news last night they said "What if China targeted Oregon?", think about that after Northern China a month ago publically stated they are going to become a nuklear power. I no longer go throughout my day feeling 100% safe and comforatable. Yes I know our boys are doing the best they think they can to protect us, but no defensive plan is 100% effective.

I don't like war, I don't like that we are going to war. But are you and I in the thick of it? Are you in the scrutiny and watchful eye of the WORLD on your shoulders watching you EVERY move? Yeah I didn't vote for Bush, I think he's a prick, that doesn't make me unamerican, just my opinion. But even all this said, I support our troops and the decisions (like them or not)of our president, I'm proud to be an American. But I'll still speak up and voice my opinion about war.

So again /applaud Sony. /rude to those people who are flaming Sony and/or the gaming industry.
