Day 1 - Krav Maga training. One hour of non-stop punching, kicking, pushups, misc exercise and more punching, kneeing, kicking and holding pads to receive pummeling. I signed up for a year. Time for bed.

Cell tech? That for recovery? Any other tips helpful. First to become fatigued last night were my legs. I am not used to the prolonged foot work, much less kicking things.

stretch correctly before and after, hydrate throughout, get enough sleep and don't beat up the really sore stuff

I plan on at least jumping rope and shadow boxing every day to help get some stamina. When practicing proper footwork, shadow boxing is amazingly a great workout!
Still crazy though. First class, I'm only new guy and the instructor says (after warm-up), "OK, everyone grab a knife."

Thinking about the Kinect, but Don't feel like rearranging my living room at the moment.
As for recovery, I may look into those shake things, although they are rather pricey. I do know that rapid-intake protein and carbs are good to help recovery.
I'm not in this for mass, as that is more detrimental to overall fitness, and fighting....well, unless you are into WWE and whatnot.

You telling me that a big ol' hulking bench-presser can take out a fit person that knows a few things about leverage and throat-punching?
I'm not talking weight class glove-to-glove.
And by mass, I mean MASS. Obviously muscle tone and some muscle weight gain is expected with any decent fitness regimen.

I said all else being equal. Brock Lesnar versus Uriah Faber, who ya got? Both are amazing athletes, highly skilled in various martial disciplines, and tough as nails. One is just MUCH larger and consequently stronger. My money would be on Brock.

I guess I should qualify as well with Krav Maga, since it is designed to have as little "toe to toe" as possible and efficiently take out weak areas of opponent. It is not really a rule-based discipline.

Day 2:
Much better since I have been doing some cardio and shadowboxing on the side. I think that is critical as these one hour sessions can get brutal.
Wraps are a bit short for MMA-style (between fingers) but I'm slowly getting better at putting them on and having them not unravel ><
Lots of elbows and knees today after a ton of punching drills. Those pads are not kind on skin, but it was overall a great experience. I look forward to next week. Think I'll buy a cup, as I do not want to think about getting caught with a kick that eludes the pad.

Thanks man! Yeah, it is a bitch right now, but if I can make it over the hump I'll feel great and be in the best shape of my life, or as close I can get at 37!

Class #6: I had taken two weeks off due to holidays and splitting with the GF. I really need to put more time in at home since I only go to class once per week. I am learning a great deal, and am starting to understand the system, at least what has been imparted so far...
Looking forward to each week now. It is intimidating--especially since the higher-level folks are involved form the first half warm-ups and exhaustion exercises. Crazy shit! I recommend this for everyone that wants to get in shape or just wants a confidence boost. Not only will you indeed get a motivated workout that you would not likely get to on your own, but you will learn things that put you at a level of confidence that will give you the upper hand in most situations where the weaker person would simply fold.
It is amazing, and I sound like I work for Ron Popeil now.

Thanks! Yeah, the cardio will come, especially when I get a better weekly routine going next week...getting a free-standing heavy-bag and some good bag gloves (Title Gel?).
As for the GF. We had signed a year lease back in August. She decided she wasn't into it anymore (not the lease) in November. Great right? Over it now, and happy to be moved out tomorrow, yay!

We were together for just under a year, but we seemed to be perfectly matched. Moved in together in August....
Her reason was that she just didn't feel it anymore. Didn't want to try to make it work. She was quite unsure when we first started dating, then seemingly found that she was happy with me, and loved me. So, it was great, she got confused again, and here we are. Everything seemed great, but that's the way it goes sometimes. I think I will endeavor to date women who are more assertive perhaps...or at least stay above the 30 mark. I'm 37 and she is 28, so there is a bit of a gap there.
It'll be lonely for a bit living alone again. Plus side though, at least I did not marry her!
But hey, it was rough at first, but this ain't my first rodeo. Once I'm settled in to new place, I'll likely be more social again and see what is out there. I'm in no hurry. Added bonus, I am getting in shape and well on my way to fending off street hooligans!

Just got the Bas Rutten Mma/heavy bag workout DVD and CDs. Hoping there are some good hook tips since we usually just do jab/cross/round kick sort of things, as far as combatives.
Shaping up a bit, although there is still a long road ahead. Hoping to test to level 2 later this year!
